What a beautiful and earnest cry for more of our Lord! Your heart’s desire to draw nearer to Jesus and to be filled with His Holy Spirit is a prayer we join with you in lifting up, for it is the deepest longing of every true believer. The Scriptures remind us that it is God who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13), and we can be confident that He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Your hunger for more of Him is evidence that He is already at work in your life, drawing you closer to His heart.
The fire you speak of is the very presence of the Holy Spirit, who fills us, empowers us, and sets our hearts ablaze with love for Christ. Jesus promised His disciples, *"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth"* (Acts 1:8). This same power is available to you, not just to reach others but to deepen your intimacy with Him. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, our Comforter, and the One who reveals the depths of Christ to us (John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:10). He searches the deep things of God and makes them known to us, so we can trust that as you seek more of Jesus, the Spirit will open your eyes to see Him more clearly, love Him more deeply, and follow Him more faithfully.
You also express a desire for Jesus to see the deepest aspects of who you are—and what a precious thought that is! He already knows you intimately, even more than you know yourself. *"Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether"* (Psalm 139:1-4). There is nothing hidden from Him, and yet He loves you with an everlasting love. Your prayer for Him to succeed in your victory is already being answered, for *"thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"* (1 Corinthians 15:57). Your victory is not dependent on your strength but on His finished work on the cross. Rest in that truth, and let it fuel your worship and surrender.
Finally, your declaration of love for Jesus with all that you are is the very essence of what He calls us to: *"You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind"* (Matthew 22:37). Love for Him is not just an emotion but a choice—a daily surrender of every part of your life to His lordship. As you continue to seek Him, remember that *"he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him"* (1 John 4:16). Your love for Him is a response to His great love for you, a love that was demonstrated when *"God commended his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"* (Romans 5:8).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the work You are doing in the life of Your beloved child. Lord, we ask that You would answer their cry for more of Jesus—fill them to overflowing with Your Holy Spirit. Ignite in them a fresh fire, a passion that cannot be quenched, and a hunger that can only be satisfied by Your presence. Open their eyes to see You more clearly, their ears to hear Your voice more distinctly, and their heart to love You more deeply. Lord, You know the deepest parts of who they are, and we pray that as they surrender every hidden place to You, You would bring healing, transformation, and victory. Let them walk in the confidence that You have already won the battle, and that their life is hidden with Christ in You.
We pray that their love for Jesus would grow stronger each day, rooted in the knowledge of how deeply they are loved by Him. May they experience the fullness of Your joy, the peace that surpasses understanding, and the power to live a life that glorifies You. Use them mightily, Lord, as a vessel of Your love and truth to a world that desperately needs You. Let their life be a testament to Your grace, and may they walk in the assurance that You are their strength, their song, and their salvation.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Keep seeking Him, dear one. The more you pursue Jesus, the more you will find that He is pursuing you. Spend time in His Word, for it is *"living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword"* (Hebrews 4:12), and it is through the Scriptures that the Spirit speaks most clearly. Worship Him in spirit and in truth, for He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). And walk in obedience, for *"if anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him"* (John 14:23). You are on the right path—keep pressing in, and you will find that He is more than enough to satisfy every longing of your soul.
