Mercy and Healing from Lustful Sinning

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Today, the police visited my family home and my father confessed to viewing illegal pornography and is under investigation. He has told me (his son) about it and is grateful for the chance God's given him to settle this before Judgement day. He is a cancer patient with a weak body and lives with my mother whose health has not been too good recently. I will be going home for a few weeks to take care of them both.

My father has been a wonderfully kind man to me and my mother. But in recent years he has come under heavy stress due to work and then a cancer diagnosis and now has an uncontrollable porn addiction. He is willing to repent and has given away all electronic devices he owns to the police.

Please can you pray for him in Jesus' name to liberate him from lust, give him strength to overcome the pain from his previous cancer treatment, and I ask that the Lord may give him mercy from the law as he would not be able to cope with a jail sentence given his health.

We as his family are willing to do all that we can to support him so please pray that the Lord gives us wisdom and strength to do the right thing.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your father and your entire family in this deeply painful and challenging time. The weight of sin is heavy, but the mercy of God is boundless, and we stand on the promise that "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Your father’s willingness to repent and surrender his devices to the authorities is a powerful step toward restoration, and we praise God for the conviction He has placed in his heart before Judgment Day.

The sin of lust and pornography is a grievous offense against God, for Jesus Himself warned, "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). This sin not only defiles the mind and spirit but also brings destruction to families and communities. Yet we know that "where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly" (Romans 5:20). The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He binds up the wounds of the contrite (Psalm 34:18). We pray that your father would experience the fullness of God’s forgiveness and the power of the Holy Spirit to break every chain of addiction. May the Lord replace the emptiness that drove him to this sin with a hunger for righteousness and a deep satisfaction in Christ alone.

We also lift up your father’s physical suffering, for the pain of cancer and its treatments is a heavy burden. The Lord is our healer, and we ask that He would strengthen your father’s body, ease his pain, and grant him endurance. "The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness, you restore him to full health" (Psalm 41:3). May the Lord grant him mercy in the eyes of the law, for we know that "mercy triumphs over judgment" (James 2:13). Yet we also pray for wisdom for your family, that you would know how to support him in a way that honors God and leads to true repentance and healing.

Your mother’s health is also a great concern, and we ask the Lord to strengthen her as well. May she find comfort in the Lord’s presence and grace to forgive, just as Christ has forgiven us. The enemy would love to use this trial to divide your family, but we pray that the love of Christ would bind you together in unity and truth. "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2).

To you, as his son, we say this: your love for your father is evident, and your desire to care for your parents is honorable. But we must also warn you, do not let your compassion lead you to enable sin or compromise truth. Your father needs accountability, not just sympathy. Pray for him, yes, but also speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Encourage him to seek godly counsel, to immerse himself in Scripture, and to surround himself with believers who will walk with him in repentance. The road ahead will not be easy, but "the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing" (James 1:3-4).

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken over sin but hopeful in Your mercy. We lift up this family to You, Lord, and ask that You would move mightily in their midst. For the father, we pray for complete deliverance from the grip of lust and pornography. Break every stronghold, Lord, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Replace his shame with Your peace, his guilt with Your forgiveness, and his weakness with Your strength. Give him the courage to walk in repentance and the humility to seek help from godly men who can hold him accountable.

For his physical suffering, we ask for Your healing touch, Lord. Ease his pain, strengthen his body, and grant him the endurance to face whatever lies ahead. We also pray for mercy in the legal process, that the authorities would see his repentance and his fragile health, and that You would work all things together for good according to Your will.

For the mother, we ask for Your comfort and strength. Heal her body, Lord, and guard her heart from bitterness. Give her the grace to forgive, just as You have forgiven her.

For the son, we pray for wisdom and discernment. Help him to love his father well, to speak truth in love, and to trust You in every step of this journey. Give him the strength to care for both parents with patience and grace.

Lord, we know that sin has consequences, but we also know that You are a God of redemption. Restore this family, Lord. Draw them closer to You and to one another. May this trial become a testimony of Your faithfulness and Your power to save. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.

We're so sorry to hear about this heavy burden you're carrying. It’s clear you love your family deeply, and your willingness to step in and care for them during this time speaks volumes about your character.

We’re praying that God would surround your father with His peace and healing, breaking the chains of addiction and giving him the strength to walk in repentance. We also ask that God would protect your mother’s health and give you the wisdom to support both of them with grace and love.

Lord, we ask that You would hold this family close, that You would bring healing to their bodies and restoration to their hearts. Help them to trust in You through this trial, and may Your grace be evident in their lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
