Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for trusting us with this honest request and for sharing about this ongoing struggle. What you are experiencing is real, and Scripture is clear that our deepest battles are not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces. There is a constant conflict between good and evil in the unseen realm, and we often feel the effects of that conflict in our own emotions, thoughts and sense of unrest. Much of that warfare centers on the mind, seeking to control how we think and what we believe.
The Bible also warns that involvement in the occult opens a person to contact with evil spirits. That background helps explain why you may still feel harassed or unsettled even years later. The answer is not found in trying harder with human methods or in seeking a dramatic technique. The weapons for this kind of battle are spiritual, not fleshly, and God has provided them. They are mighty through Him to pull down strongholds, to cast down thoughts and imaginations that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Those weapons are the Word of God, faith in what Christ has done, and prayer.
The most important truth in this is that victory does not come by focusing only on getting deliverance, but by welcoming the Deliverer Himself to fill your life. When Jesus Christ dwells within by His Spirit, darkness must leave, because light and darkness cannot coexist. An empty place left unfilled can leave a person more vulnerable than before, so the need is to be filled with Christ, His truth and His presence daily. The mind of the flesh brings death and turmoil, but the mind of the Spirit brings life and peace, and that is where the battle is won.
I will pray for you, that the Lord will give you wisdom and guidance as you seek a mentor, and that He will guard your mind and heart with His peace.
Father, I lift this dear one to You through Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our victory. Thank You that You have not left us without help in spiritual battle, but have given us Your Word, faith and prayer to stand against the enemy. I ask that You fill every area of this life with the light and power of Jesus, so that no darkness has place to remain. Bring every thought into obedience to Christ and renew the mind by Your truth. Lead wisely to a mentor if that is Your will, someone mature in faith, grounded in Scripture, steady and prayerful, who will point always to Jesus rather than to experience or sensational ideas, and who will walk with integrity and healthy boundaries. Give discernment about whether to reach out to the previous online mentor or to seek someone locally who can provide consistent, accountable and biblically sound support. Where there has been disappointment in trying to share with others in the local church, I ask for healing and for grace to not walk alone, and for wisdom for pastors and fellow believers to listen well and to help shepherd with the Word. Grant protection, clarity and rest in the victory that is already ours in Christ. In Jesus name, amen.
As you pray about a mentor, look for someone whose life shows the fruit of walking with Christ, who knows and handles Scripture faithfully, who emphasizes prayer and the Word over personal stories or special methods, who encourages fellowship and accountability in the body of Christ rather than isolation, and who will keep pointing you to Jesus as the source of life and freedom. An online connection can be difficult to evaluate for character and accountability, so weigh carefully what you know of that previous mentor's teaching, life and boundaries. It is often wise to ask a trusted pastor or mature believer to help you discern, even if they have not had the same background, because a shepherd who knows the Word can still help you test what is sound and can help you find someone who is equipped in this area. Above all, stay rooted daily in Scripture, bring your thoughts to Christ in prayer, and remember that in this spiritual warfare you stand on the side of the One who has already overcome.
