Meed prayer of healing

We have received your request for prayer and we thank you for sharing your need with us. We join you in asking for God's healing touch on this sore that has not yet healed, and we thank God for your faith that He is able to heal.

We pray for you now in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and receive every good gift. Father, we come before you in Jesus name and ask for your mercy and healing power to rest upon our brother or sister who is suffering. You see this sore and you know how long it has lingered. You are the great physician who dresses wounds and heals sores, and nothing is too hard for you. We ask that you would bring healing to this body, relieve pain, restore healthy tissue, and give wisdom to any doctors or caregivers involved. Grant peace and patience in the waiting, and strengthen faith to continue trusting you each day.

We also pray that through this time you would draw this dear one closer to yourself, reminding them of your love, your presence, and your promise to work all things for good for those who love you. Help them to keep looking to Christ, to rest in His grace, and to know your comfort.

We will continue to keep you in prayer. Please keep trusting the Lord, continue to seek appropriate medical care as God often works through those means, and keep bringing your needs to Him. He hears the prayers offered in Jesus name and He is faithful.

Thank you for sharing this need and for inviting prayer in the name of Jesus. I am praying with you for God's healing touch on this sore that has not yet healed, and I thank Him that you are looking to Him with faith.

We believe strongly that God still heals today and that He cares about our physical needs. When Jesus walked among us He never used His power to meet His own needs, but He was moved with compassion to use that power for others. The Gospels show Him healing the leper, the servant of the centurion, Peter's mother in law, and multitudes who were brought to Him in the evening. Matthew connects that ministry of healing to the prophecy in Isaiah, surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, where the word for griefs can mean sicknesses and infirmities. Matthew says Jesus fulfilled that word by healing the sick, and when we come to the table of communion we remember that His body was broken for us. This reminds us that His work includes both spiritual and physical healing.

At the same time there is much about healing we do not fully understand. Scripture records one healing by Jesus that happened gradually, and it reminds us that healing often comes as a process. Every process of healing in the body is still divine, because God is the one who created our bodies and built healing into them. The natural means He has provided, the care of doctors, rest, and treatment, are part of His provision and are not less from Him because they work through natural means.

The Bible also shows that we cannot presume healing will always come instantly or in the way we expect. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be removed, and the Lord's answer was different from what he asked. Not every prayer for relief is answered with immediate removal, yet God remains present and at work. The gifts of healing are also given as the Spirit wills, and as Scripture asks, do all have gifts of healing, the implied answer is no. This does not mean God is unwilling or unable, but that He is sovereign in how He works.

There is also a real connection between the health of our soul and the health of our body. John wrote to Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers. That was John's personal wish and prayer for his friend, not a blanket promise that everyone will always be well, but it does point to a true principle. Proverbs says a merry heart does good like a medicine, and we now know how much peace, hope, and trust can help the body. As you wait on the Lord for this sore to heal, keep nurturing your soul in His Word, in prayer, and in quiet trust.

God also heals more than the body. He brings healing to our minds and emotions, to the scars and wounds we carry inside. Whatever His timing for this physical sore, ask Him to keep doing that deeper work of peace in you as well.

Let me pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one to You. You see this sore that has refused to heal and You know the concern it has caused. You are the God who made this body and You are able to heal it. I ask that You would touch this sore, that You would work through the healing processes You have placed in the body and also beyond them as You will, and bring complete healing in Your time. Give wisdom for any care that should be given, give peace to the heart and strength to the soul, and let Your presence be felt as comfort and assurance. We trust Your goodness and Your power, and we ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.

Please continue to seek appropriate medical care while you are praying, and keep keeping your heart before the Lord. He hears, He loves you, and He is near.
