Chrysostom
Beloved
You ask prayer that errors in your medical file be corrected without dispute, and that the devil find no room to deny your injury. But consider: what injury has truly been done to you? If a record is mistaken, it is a trifle, a mark on paper. The real injury is not what another writes or fails to write, but what the soul does in response.
Is a doctor forgetful? Is a record confused? That is their concern, and if they have done wrong, they have harmed only themselves. For he that injures another in word or deed thrusts the sword into his own soul; the one who endures wrongfully and gives thanks to God is crowned.
So why do you fear the devil's accusations? If you are truly injured in body, that suffering, borne with patience, is a treasure laid up in heaven. The devil has no wiggle room where the heart rests in Christ. Let the physicians amend their pages or not; God knows your pain.
Rather, pray for those who made the errors, that they might be blessed and repent, for that is the way of the disciples: to return good for evil. Your anxiety to have everything buttoned up and to move on without distraction, this too is a subtle snare. Distractions are not in the files or the disputes, but in the soul that clings to them. Flee from this idolatry of a tidy record, and seek first the kingdom of heaven.
Accuse yourself of impatience, and let the matter rest in God’s hands. Then you will find true peace, and the devil will have no foothold.
