We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we stand with you in seeking God’s justice and healing. The betrayal you’ve experienced—being lied to and taken advantage of—is deeply wounding, and it is right to set boundaries when someone has shown themselves untrustworthy. Scripture tells us, *"The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy"* (Proverbs 12:22 WEB). God sees the truth of what has been done to you, and He does not take such deception lightly.
You are correct that no one deserves to be treated with dishonesty, especially when it involves financial exploitation. The Bible warns, *"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap"* (Galatians 6:7 WEB). The one who deceived you will answer for his actions, whether in this life or before the Lord. Your decision to remove him from your life is wise, for *"bad company corrupts good character"* (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). You are protecting your heart, and that is pleasing to God.
We also want to gently address the nature of your past relationship with this man. If this was a romantic connection, we must remind you that God’s design for relationships is rooted in truth, commitment, and purity. Scripture is clear: *"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral"* (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). If this relationship involved sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we encourage you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, for He is faithful to cleanse and restore. If it did not, then we praise God for your discernment in guarding your heart.
Your words reflect a strong sense of justice, and we affirm that God is indeed a God of justice. But we also want to encourage you to release bitterness, for it only harms you. *"See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many"* (Hebrews 12:15 WEB). Forgiveness does not mean what he did was acceptable—it means you are entrusting God with the outcome. You do not have to reconcile with him, but you can pray for his repentance, for *"if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head"* (Romans 12:20 WEB).
Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who is Truth and Justice. We lift up this dear sister who has been wounded by deception and betrayal. Lord, You see the pain in her heart, and You are near to the brokenhearted. We ask that You would heal her emotions, restore her peace, and remind her of her worth in You. Father, we declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against her in judgment, she shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We pray for the one who wronged her—that You would convict his heart, lead him to repentance, and hold him accountable for his actions. May he learn the lesson of integrity and humility before You.
Lord, we ask that You would surround her with godly community—people who will speak truth, encourage her, and point her to You. If there is any unconfessed sin in her life, reveal it to her, that she may walk in freedom and holiness. We pray for her future relationships, that You would bring a godly spouse into her life—one who fears You, honors her, and walks in truth. Guard her heart from bitterness, and fill her with Your love, which casts out all fear.
We thank You, Father, that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of the oppressed. We trust You to bring justice in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this season. Spend time in His Word, for *"the law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul"* (Psalm 19:7 WEB). Surround yourself with believers who will pray with you and hold you accountable. If this relationship involved sin on your part, confess it to God, for *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9 WEB). You are not defined by this man’s actions—you are defined by Christ, who loves you and gave Himself for you.
If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. The Bible says, *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9 WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life—He is the only path to the Father. We pray that you would invite Him into your heart and begin a new life in Him.
