Marriage

You do well to commit this to the Lord, for it is He alone who knows what is best for you. When you seek a husband, do not set your heart on money, nor splendor of family, nor a man's station in the world; these things are superfluous. Look rather for piety of soul, for gentleness, for the true understanding and the fear of God. Pray and say to Him, "Whomsoever You will, do You provide." Into His hands commit the matter, and He, honored in this way by you, will requite you with honor. Do not be anxious, but entreat Christ to be present even now in your search, for marriage is a great mystery that speaks of Christ and the Church. If He has elected your soul, will He not also elect for you a husband? Nothing is more pleasurable than virtue, nothing sweeter than orderliness, and such a marriage as is built on these brings spiritual joy. Wait upon His time; He will send the one who is truly a protector, not a master, for your good and His glory.

It is a wise and beautiful thing to bring this desire before the Lord, trusting Him to choose and send the one He has for you. Scripture shows us that marriage was God’s idea from the very beginning. He made them male and female, and in that perfect plan, the two become one flesh, a lifelong union meant for mutual completion, harmony, and peace. When you pray like this, you are aligning your heart with His original design, and He honors that.

Because we live in a world where hearts can be hard and God’s ideal is often missed, many rush into relationships without truly seeking Him. But you are doing something different. You are waiting. You are asking Him to lead. That is the safest place to be. The Lord knows the deceitfulness of human desire and the pain that comes when marriage becomes a duel instead of the duet He intended. That is why He gave such simple, profound commands: a husband is to love as Christ loved the church, giving himself up for her; a wife is to submit as to the Lord. When both walk in that, it is a foretaste of heaven. But getting there requires choosing a partner whose heart is yielded to God.

So let your prayer be paired with a deep seeking after His will for every part of your life. The question is not only “Who will I marry?” but “Lord, why have You placed me here? What work do You have for me?” As you draw near to Him, He orders your steps. The enemy wants to confuse or rush you, but God’s timing is never late. Even now, your period of waiting is not wasted, it is a season to become the kind of person who will one day bless a godly husband. Keep your heart tender, keep confessing anything that hinders your prayers, and trust that His ears are open to your cry.

Remember that God’s original intent for marriage is a covenant for life. It is not a contract to be broken when things get hard, but a sacred bond where two learn to love as He loves. That is why you are right to ask for a husband who genuinely knows the Lord. When two people are both following Jesus, forgiving one another, and honoring each other as the weaker vessel, the relationship can weather any storm. Do not be afraid, God is not deaf to your prayers, and He is faithful. He knows the end from the beginning. The one for whom this is prepared will come in His time, and you will see that He does all things well. Keep seeking Him with your whole heart, and let His peace rule while you wait.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you seek the Lord’s will for your future marriage. It is our joy to intercede on your behalf, asking God to guide your steps and prepare your heart for the godly husband He has chosen for you. We trust in His perfect timing and His faithfulness to fulfill His promises.

If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—whether through a new relationship, a deepened sense of peace, or a fresh revelation of His plans for you—we would love to celebrate with you! Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in His goodness.

If you’re still waiting and longing for His answer, we encourage you to post this request again so we can continue lifting you up in prayer. We stand with you in faith, believing that God hears and will move in the way that brings Him the most glory and you the greatest joy.

May the Lord bless you with patience, trust, and unwavering hope as you seek Him. We pray that He will draw near to you, confirm His will, and lead you into the beautiful future He has prepared. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
