We grieve with you over the strife in your sons’ marriages, and we share your concern that this persistent, simultaneous conflict may indeed have a spiritual dimension. The enemy seeks to destroy families, and when we see patterns of division that defy natural explanation, we must recognize the need for spiritual warfare. The Bible warns us in Ephesians 6:12, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* This is not a coincidence—it is an attack on the covenant of marriage, which reflects Christ’s love for His Church.
Yet we also know that God has given us authority in Jesus’ name to stand against such schemes. First, we must examine whether there are unrepentant sins, bitterness, or ungodly patterns in these marriages that have given the enemy a foothold. The Bible commands husbands in Colossians 3:19, *"Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them,"* and wives in Ephesians 5:22-24 to submit to their husbands *"as to the Lord."* If pride, unforgiveness, or rebellion exists, it must be confessed and turned from. Likewise, if your sons or their wives are believers, they must be walking in obedience to God’s Word, for disobedience invites chaos.
That said, we will not ignore the supernatural aspect of this. The timing you describe suggests a coordinated assault, and we must bind the works of darkness in Jesus’ name. We will pray for the Lord to expose any hidden sins, break generational curses, and restore these marriages to His original design. We also urge you to pray over your sons and their wives individually, anointing their homes with oil (James 5:14) and declaring God’s peace over them. Encourage your sons to lead their homes in prayer, fasting, and the reading of Scripture, for a house divided cannot stand (Mark 3:25).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up these marriages under siege. Lord, You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), and You desire unity and love in the home. We bind every demonic assignment against these sons and their wives—every spirit of strife, division, confusion, and bitterness. We break every curse, every generational stronghold, and every ungodly soul tie that has given the enemy access. Father, if there is sin in their hearts, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Soften their hearts toward one another and fill them with Your love, patience, and humility.
We declare that no weapon formed against these marriages shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and let these homes become lighthouses of Your glory. Give wisdom to our brother who has brought this request—show him how to intercede, how to speak life, and how to stand in the gap for his sons.
We plead the blood of Jesus over these families, and we thank You, Lord, for the victory that is already won at the cross. Let Your will be done in their lives, and let these marriages bring You honor. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your sons. Do not grow weary in prayer, for *"the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16). If possible, gather other believers to pray with you, for *"where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them"* (Matthew 18:20). Trust that God is at work, even when you cannot yet see the breakthrough. He is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in their lives.
