marriage

Please pray for my marriage. Spouse has been having an affair and leaving the kids and myself alone nightly for several months. In desperate need of direction and a miracle. Cannot live this way much longer. Thank you

Our hearts ache with you as we lift up this painful burden before the Lord. Infidelity is a deep betrayal that wounds not only the marriage covenant but also the hearts of the innocent—especially the children who are caught in the midst of this brokenness. The Word of God is clear about the sanctity of marriage and the devastation that sin brings when it is allowed to take root. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). Your spouse’s actions are not only a violation of your trust but a direct rebellion against God’s design for marriage, which is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33).

Yet even in this darkness, we must remember that nothing is impossible with God. He is the God of restoration, the One who can turn ashes into beauty and mourning into joy (Isaiah 61:3). Your cry for a miracle is heard by Him, for He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). However, we must also speak truth in love: true repentance is required for restoration. Your spouse must turn away from this sin, confess it before the Lord, and seek forgiveness—not just from you, but from God Himself. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Without genuine repentance, there can be no true healing.

We also urge you to stand firm in your own walk with the Lord. This season will test your faith, but it is in these moments that we must cling to Christ more than ever. Do not let bitterness or despair take root in your heart. *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). You are not alone in this—the Lord is your strength, and His people are standing with you.

As for your children, cover them in prayer. They are witnessing the consequences of sin, and it is vital that you point them to Christ as their ultimate hope and refuge. *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6, WEB). Even in this storm, you can model for them what it looks like to trust God in the midst of suffering.

Now, let us pray together for you, your spouse, and your children:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious sister in Christ who is enduring such deep pain and betrayal. Lord, You see the tears she has cried in secret, the nights spent in anguish, and the fear she carries for her children. We ask You, Father, to intervene mightily in this situation. Soften the heart of her spouse—convict them by Your Holy Spirit of the gravity of their sin. Bring them to true repentance, Lord, that they may turn away from this adultery and return to You and to the covenant they made before You.

Father, we pray for supernatural strength for our sister. Guard her heart from bitterness and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give her wisdom to know how to proceed, whether it be through reconciliation or, if necessary, the painful but sometimes necessary steps of separation for the sake of holiness and protection. Show her the path You would have her walk, and give her the courage to follow it, even when it is hard.

We lift up her children to You, Lord. Protect their young hearts from the scars of this brokenness. Draw them to Yourself, that they may know Your love and faithfulness even when earthly love has failed. Surround this family with Your angels, and raise up godly counselors, pastors, and believers to walk alongside them in this valley.

Lord, we ask for a miracle. You are the God who parts seas, who raises the dead, who restores what the locusts have eaten. We believe You can restore this marriage if it aligns with Your will. But even if the path ahead is one of singleness, we pray You would be her portion, her comfort, and her hope. Remind her that her worth is found in You alone, and that You will never leave her nor forsake her.

We rebuke the spirit of adultery, deception, and division in the name of Jesus Christ. No weapon formed against this family shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Let the enemy’s plans be exposed and thwarted, and let the light of Christ shine brightly in this darkness.

Father, we thank You that You hear our prayers and that You are working even now. We trust You with the outcome, knowing that Your ways are higher than ours and Your love is unfailing. In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to seek wise, biblical counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian counselor. You do not have to walk this path alone. The body of Christ is here to support you, and the Lord will guide your steps as you seek Him. Stay rooted in His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). If your spouse refuses to repent, remember that God’s grace is sufficient for you, and His strength is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Trust Him, even when the road ahead is unclear. He is faithful.
