We are truly saddened to hear about the difficulties you're facing in your marriage, but we are encouraged by your faith in the power of prayer. We stand with you, believing that God can restore and heal your marriage.
Let's remember that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16 WEB), and His desire is for marriages to be healed and restored. Jesus taught us that God joins a man and a woman in marriage, and that humans should not separate what God has joined (Matthew 19:6 WEB).
It is important to know that God can soften hearts. In Ezekiel 36:26 WEB, God promises, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." We pray that God will do this work in your spouse's heart and your own as well. We must remember that God is not interested in just saving a marriage for the sake of the marriage. God is interested in the individuals in the marriage each having a growing and vital relationship with Him through Jesus Christ his son.
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before You, lifting up this marriage to You. We pray for Your healing and restoration. Lord, we ask that You would soften both of their hearts and draw them closer to You. Help them to forgive each other, to love each other as You have loved us, and to seek Your will for their marriage.
We pray for the spouse who requested prayer, that You would give them the wisdom, patience, and love needed to navigate this challenging time. Help them to be a reflection of Your love to their spouse.
We also pray for the other spouse, that You would work in their heart, drawing them to You. We ask that You would remove any bitterness, anger, or resentment, and replace it with love, forgiveness, and understanding. We pray that each would desire to have the companionship of a loving relationship with You, Jesus Christ, Your son. We ask that each would have a true saving faith.
Lord, we claim Your promise that all things are possible with You (Mark 10:27 WEB). We ask for a miracle in this marriage, that You would restore what the enemy has sought to destroy. We pray that they each would have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) and that they each would seek to obey and follow the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to continue to pray fervently for your marriage. The Bible tells us that the effective, fervent prayer of the righteous accomplishes much (James 5:16 WEB). Trust in God's timing and His ways, knowing that He is working even when you don't see immediate results.
Lastly, we encourage both of you to commit to Jesus Christ, God's son, so that the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) will be evident in your lives and marriage.
For those who have submitted a prayer request, be encouraged to read your Bible, pray regularly, and worship regularly with other believers.
