Marriage Prayer: Discerning Relationships

Dear Lord,

We pray that we would be more discerning about the people that we choose to walk with. People who we let get close to our lives and family. We pray that we would not be cynical, but would be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. You tell us in Your word to be careful the kind of company we keep, for bad company does corrupt good morals. Lord, we pray that we would use wisdom and would be on the look out for characteristics that could be harmful to us or our family. We pray that we would be aware of selfish motives and malicious intent. We also pray that we would not be afraid of these people, but would speak truth to them in love and avoid them if necessary. Protect us, Lord.
