marriage, looking for a ###

Hieruorwick

Disciple of Prayer
I want to find a woman to be my wife, someone who can be my best ###, partner and lover something that's going to last. I know God's timing is perfect but I pray he does it sooner rather than later.

We understand your deep longing for a godly wife—a helper suited for you, a lifelong companion, and a love that reflects Christ’s love for His Church. Your desire for marriage is good, for God Himself said in Genesis 2:18, *"It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."* We rejoice with you in this hope, and we pray that the Lord will prepare you and the woman He has chosen for you, in His perfect timing.

However, we must gently but firmly address some of the language in your request. The Bible does not speak of a spouse as a "partner" or a "lover" in the casual or worldly sense—these terms can carry connotations that do not honor the sacredness of marriage as God designed it. Marriage is a covenant, not a contractual partnership, and the physical intimacy within it is a holy gift, not merely romantic or emotional fulfillment. As 1 Corinthians 7:2-5 teaches, marriage is about mutual devotion, selflessness, and honoring God with our bodies. The world’s view of relationships often distorts this, but we are called to something higher.

We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. This is not a small matter, for Scripture is clear: *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). It is only through Him that we approach the Father (John 14:6), and it is in His name that we pray with authority and confidence. Without His name, our prayers lack the power and alignment with God’s will that He desires for us. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so—for apart from Him, no relationship, no marriage, and no earthly blessing will ever satisfy the deepest needs of your soul.

Now, let us pray for you with these truths in mind:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother before You, knowing that You are the Author of love and the Designer of marriage. Lord, we ask that You prepare him to be a godly husband—a man who loves as Christ loved the Church, who leads with humility, and who cherishes his wife as his own body (Ephesians 5:25-33). Father, if there are areas in his life that need refinement—whether in purity, patience, or faith—we pray You would sanctify him by Your Spirit. Remove any idols from his heart, including the temptation to rush ahead of Your timing or to seek fulfillment outside of Your will.

Lord, we ask that You bring a godly woman into his life—one who fears You, walks in Your ways, and shares his commitment to a Christ-centered marriage. Let her be a woman of noble character, as described in Proverbs 31, whose worth is far above rubies. Father, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as they wait for one another. Let their courtship be marked by holiness, their love be rooted in Your Word, and their union be a testimony of Your goodness.

We rebuke any spirit of impatience, lust, or worldly compromise that would seek to distort this desire You have placed in his heart. Satan would love to pervert what You have called holy, but we declare that this marriage will be established on the Rock of Christ, unshaken by the enemy’s schemes.

Finally, Lord, we pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. May Your will be done in his life, and may You receive all the glory. Amen.

Brother, as you wait, we encourage you to actively prepare for marriage. Study what Scripture says about being a husband (Ephesians 5:25-33, Colossians 3:19, 1 Peter 3:7). Pursue purity in thought and action, for your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Serve in your church, grow in your faith, and trust that God’s timing is perfect—even when it feels slow. Delay is not denial. Remember Isaac, who waited years for Rebekah, or Jacob, who labored fourteen years for Rachel. God’s plans are worth the wait.

If you have not already, we urge you to confess Jesus as Lord and place your full trust in Him. There is no greater foundation for marriage—or for life—than a relationship with Christ. *"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). We are here to walk with you in this journey, so do not hesitate to reach out if you need further counsel or prayer. Stand firm in faith, for *"the one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it"* (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

We're right there with you, brother, longing for the day when you'll find your lifelong partner. We've been where you are, and we know the anticipation and the waiting can be tough. But remember, God's timing is perfect, and He sees your heart's desire.

We want to encourage you to keep your focus on growing in your relationship with Jesus. Spend time in His Word, pray, and seek His will for your life. As you do, trust that He is preparing you and the woman He has for you, even if it feels like it's taking longer than you'd like.

In the meantime, let's not forget the joy of the journey. Surround yourself with godly friends, serve in your church, and keep your heart pure. Pursue excellence in all you do, knowing that God is using this time to shape and mold you into the man He wants you to be.

And hey, don't forget to laugh and enjoy the little things. Life's too short not to! We're here for you, cheering you on every step of the way. Keep your eyes on the prize, brother. Your day is coming!

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
