Marital prayer request

Nina-Leigh

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my boyfriend of a year now, to marry me if this is God's will and make me an honest woman, or for us to separate safely. Please pray that he does this and also begins to walk a more christian path from now on, taking on the responsibilities of his actions and resisting the temptation to palm blame onto others. Pray for him to heal in areas that have made him childish and sinful. Amen.

We come before the Lord with you in this request, lifting up your heart’s cry for clarity, godly direction, and the sanctity of marriage. First, we want to gently address the way this relationship is framed. Scripture does not recognize the term "boyfriend" in the way the world does—rather, if a man and woman are in a committed relationship, it should be with the intent of marriage, under the authority of Christ, and in purity. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy outside of marriage is sin, and we urge you to examine whether this relationship has remained holy before God. If there has been any compromise in this area, we encourage repentance and a return to purity, for "the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body" (1 Corinthians 6:13, WEB). Flee from fornication, as it is a sin against your own body and the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

Marriage is a sacred covenant before God, not merely a social or emotional arrangement. It is a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman, designed to reflect Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If this man is not yet walking in faith or taking spiritual leadership seriously, it is wise to prayerfully consider whether he is the husband God has prepared for you. The Bible warns, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). A godly marriage requires two believers fully submitted to Christ, walking in obedience and love.

We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is only through Jesus that our prayers are heard. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so, for "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13, WEB).

Now, let us pray together for you and this man. May God’s will be done in both of your lives, and may His truth guide your steps.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and the man she has been in a relationship with. Lord, we ask for Your divine wisdom to flood her heart and mind. If this relationship is not of You, give her the strength to walk away in faith, trusting that You have a godly husband prepared for her—one who loves You above all else and will lead her spiritually. If this man is the one You have ordained, then soften his heart, Lord. Convict him of sin and draw him into a deep, repentant relationship with You. Remove any childishness, selfishness, or rebellion from his life, and replace it with the fruit of the Spirit—love, patience, kindness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Father, we rebuke any spirit of delay, confusion, or deception that may be hindering Your perfect will in this situation. If there has been sexual sin, we ask for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Restore purity and holiness to both of their lives. Help them to honor You in their bodies and their choices, remembering that "marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4, WEB).

Lord, if this man is not the one You have for her, provide a godly exit—one that brings peace, protection, and no regret. Surround her with Your comfort and assurance that You are her Provider and Protector. Remind her that You see her desire for marriage and that Your timing is perfect. "Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4, WEB).

We also pray for her future husband, wherever he may be. Prepare his heart, Lord, to love You wholeheartedly and to cherish her as Christ loves the Church. Raise up a man of integrity, faith, and courage to lead her in Your ways.

Father, we ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, knowing that You hear us and that Your will is good, pleasing, and perfect. Strengthen her faith, guard her heart, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, rule in her life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
---

Sister, we encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this season. Spend time in His Word, pray without ceasing, and surround yourself with wise, mature believers who can speak truth into your life. If this man is not walking with the Lord, do not yoke yourself to him in hope that he will change—trust God to either transform him or redirect you. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB).

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and surrender your life to Him. There is no greater security or joy than being found in Christ. "That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9, WEB).

May the Lord bless you, keep you, and make His face shine upon you as you seek Him first in all things.

We're here with you, sister, lifting up your heart's cry for clarity and God's will in your relationship. We understand the longing for marriage and the desire for it to be a reflection of Christ's love for His Church. We join you in praying for God's will to be done, and for His truth to guide your steps.

We want to encourage you to trust in God's timing. He sees your desire for marriage, and His plans are perfect, even if they don't align with our immediate hopes. Remember, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4, WEB).

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, asking for Your divine wisdom to guide this sister and the man she's been with. If this relationship is not of You, give her the strength to walk away in faith, trusting that You have a godly husband prepared for her. If this man is the one You've ordained, soften his heart, Lord. Convict him of sin and draw him into a deep, repentant relationship with You. Help them to honor You in their bodies and choices, remembering that "marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4, WEB).

Lord, if this man is not the one You have for her, provide a godly exit - one that brings peace, protection, and no regret. Surround her with Your comfort and assurance that You are her Provider and Protector. Remind her that You see her desire for marriage, and Your timing is perfect.

We also pray for her future husband, wherever he may be. Prepare his heart, Lord, to love You wholeheartedly and to cherish her as Christ loves the Church. Raise up a man of integrity, faith, and courage to lead her in Your ways.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting your relationship before the Lord these past few days. It has been our privilege to stand with you in prayer, seeking God’s perfect will for your future—whether that means unity in marriage or a peaceful separation that honors Him. We know how deeply personal and tender this season is for you, and we’ve been praying not only for clarity and wisdom but also for God’s healing touch in both of your hearts.

If the Lord has moved in this situation—whether through answered prayer, a new sense of peace, or a clear direction—we would love to rejoice with you in a praise report. Sometimes God’s answers unfold in ways we don’t expect, and your testimony could encourage others who are waiting on Him too.

If you’re still waiting, still wrestling, or still unsure of what the next step should be, please don’t hesitate to share an update or repost your request. We are here to continue interceding for you, for your boyfriend’s spiritual growth, and for the Lord to mend what is broken—whether in this relationship or within each of your individual walks with Him. Our prayers remain that God will soften his heart, open his eyes to truth, and lead him into a life of responsibility and repentance. And for you, we pray for strength, discernment, and a deep assurance of God’s love, no matter the outcome.

May the Lord draw you both closer to Himself in this time, reminding you that His plans are good, His timing is perfect, and His grace is sufficient. We are standing with you in faith, trusting that He who began this work in you will carry it through to completion.

In Jesus Name.
