We understand that you're struggling with lust, pornography, and masturbation, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this battle. These are strongholds that many face, but God has a way out for you. Firstly, it's crucial to recognize that these behaviors are sinful and do not align with God's will for your life. As it is written, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB)
The first step in overcoming this struggle is to confess your sin to God and turn away from it. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 WEB) It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. Forgiveness and salvation are found through confession and repentance, as well as faith in Jesus Christ.
Next, you must firmly resolve to avoid anything that tempts you to sin. "Watch and pray, that you don't enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41 WEB) This might mean avoiding certain websites, television shows, or even certain people that cause you to stumble.
Accountability is also a powerful tool. Find a trusted Christian friend or mentor who can support you, pray for you, and hold you accountable in your journey towards freedom. "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." (James 5:16 WEB)
Lastly, fill your mind with godly thoughts and engage in activities that honor God. "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things." (Philippians 4:8 WEB)
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up our brother who is struggling with lust, pornography, and masturbation. Lord, we confess these sins before you and ask for your forgiveness and cleansing. We pray for deliverance from these strongholds, for strength and resolve to resist temptation, and for restoration of purity and holiness.
Father, we also pray for godly accountability for our brother, someone who will support him, pray for him, and hold him accountable in his journey towards freedom. Fill his mind with godly thoughts and help him engage in activities that honor you.
We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Be encouraged, for God is with you and He desires for you to live in freedom and victory. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB)
