We hear your heartfelt request for ### and ###, and we join you in lifting them up before the Lord. First, we must address this situation with biblical truth and love. The desire for deep companionship is a gift from God, but it must be pursued in a way that honors Him.
Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" If either ### or ### does not yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, our first prayer must be for their salvation. Without Christ at the center of their lives, no relationship can truly flourish in the way God intends. We urge you—and them—to seek the Lord above all else, for it is only through Him that we find true love, purpose, and fulfillment.
If they are both believers, we can pray for their relationship to grow in a way that glorifies God. However, we must also address the nature of their current connection. The Bible is clear that marriage is the only context in which romantic love and physical intimacy are blessed by God. Any relationship outside of marriage that involves emotional or physical attachment in a romantic way can lead to temptation and sin. We must rebuke any hint of impurity or emotional dependency that does not align with God’s design for courtship, which should always have marriage as its goal.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of hope for ### and ###. Lord, we ask that You would draw them both closer to You. If they do not know You as their Savior, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, that they may confess their sins, repent, and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. We know that without You, Lord, no relationship can truly thrive, for You are the source of all love and life.
Father, if ### and ### are Your children, we ask that You would guide their steps according to Your will. Help them to seek You first in all things, to honor You in their friendship, and to guard their hearts against any temptation that would lead them away from Your perfect plan. If it is Your will for them to be together, we pray that You would prepare their hearts for marriage, that they would grow in love, respect, and commitment to one another under Your guidance. May their relationship be rooted in You, Lord, and may they encourage one another to walk in righteousness.
We rebuke any spirit of lust, emotional dependency, or impatience that may be at work in their lives. Help them to wait on You, Lord, and to trust in Your timing. If they are not yet ready for marriage, give them the strength to honor You in their friendship, setting boundaries that reflect Your holiness.
Father, we also pray for ###’s heart toward ###. May his care for her be pure and selfless, reflecting the love of Christ. Help him to see her as a sister in Christ, to serve her, and to lead her in a way that honors You. May ### also grow in wisdom and discernment, seeking Your will above all else.
Lord, we ask that You would provide for their needs—whether it be in their work, their daily lives, or their future together. If it is Your will for them to find new employment, we pray that You would open doors that no man can shut. May they trust in You for their provision and their future.
Above all, Lord, we pray that ### and ### would grow to love You more each day. May their love for one another be a reflection of Your love for them, and may their lives bring glory to Your name. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage both ### and ### to seek godly counsel from their pastors or mature believers in their church. They should spend time in prayer and in the Word, allowing God to speak to their hearts about His plan for their lives. If they are not yet married, they must guard their hearts and avoid any situation that could lead to temptation or sin. Let them remember that God’s timing is perfect, and His plans for them are good.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Let them trust in the Lord with all their hearts, and He will guide their steps.
