As###, we have received your prayer request and we stand with you in seeking God's will for your relationship. You've mentioned love over lust for over three years, and we commend you for desiring to honor God in your relationship. Let us first align our hearts with God's Word.
We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (WEB) that "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." This is the kind of love that God calls us to have in our relationships.
However, we must also address that lust is not from God. 1 John 2:16 (WEB) warns us, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s." If there has been any impurity in your relationship, we urge you to repent and turn away from it. God's design for intimacy is within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman.
Let us pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### and their relationship. Lord, we ask that You would protect and nourish their love, that it would be a love that reflects Your heart. Help them to remain pure and holy, fleeing from lust and pursuing righteousness. Guide their steps, and if it is Your will, lead them towards a God-honoring marriage. Give them wisdom, patience, and kindness towards each other. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
###, we encourage you to continue to pursue a relationship that honors God. If you are not already, we urge you to be in prayer together as a couple, seeking God's face together. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. If you haven't already, we encourage you to make Jesus the center of your relationship.
Lastly, we leave you with this verse from Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB), "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Trust in God, and He will guide your path.
