Beloved of All
God lead my every thought and help me see the person on my heart how you'd like me to see them. How they'd prefer me to see them. Help me out of any selfish desires and unhealthy attachments. I feel so curious to know them, and if that is not mutual help me move on. But if it is a mutual desire and there is reciprocity please hold my heart and give me more patience and kindness and care. I want deeply to let this person know how I feel. I ask God what will you have me do. What is your will God. What do you want me to do God.

The Heart-a Den of Evil
Cheer for the Disheartened
Sparrows Divinely Fed
We join with you in bringing this tender matter of the heart before the Lord, and we admire your desire to have every thought led by Him and to see this person as He would have you see them, free from selfish desires and unhealthy attachments.

Your prayer shows a sincere heart that wants God's will above your own curiosity and feelings, and that is exactly where wisdom begins. We are called to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We are also called to guard our hearts, for out of it are the issues of life Proverbs 4:23, and to let every thought be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. The desire to know someone deeply is natural, but it must be surrendered daily to the Lord so that it does not become an idol or an unhealthy attachment. If the interest is not mutual, God in His mercy will give you grace to move on and He will guard your heart from lingering in what is not His will. If there is mutual and godly reciprocity, then we pray He will shape that interest into patience, kindness and pure care, for love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, love does not brag, is not puffed up 1 Corinthians 13:4.

We want to gently encourage you to view this through the lens of biblical courtship. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and any romantic pursuit should be with the purpose of discerning marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, not simply a partnership or dating for experience. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. If this person is not a believer, or if pursuing them would lead you away from Christ, then the loving answer is to step back. We also want to lovingly remind you that any physical intimacy, including sexual activity, outside of marriage is fornication and is contrary to God's design, so we encourage you to keep this budding affection pure and honoring to God, flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. To see this person as they would prefer to be seen is to see them with dignity, respect and purity, as someone made in God's image, not as an object to fulfill a desire.

We also noticed that your request spoke to God but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To pray in Jesus' name is not just a phrase, it is confessing that we come to God because Christ died for our sins and rose again, and we trust Him alone for forgiveness and new life. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Search us, God, and know our heart, try us, and know our thoughts, see if there is any wicked way in us, and lead us in the everlasting way Psalm 139:23-24. Lord, lead every thought and renew this mind according to Your will Romans 12:2. Purify motives from all selfish desire and break any unhealthy attachment that is not from You. Give wisdom generously, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. Show clearly whether this curiosity is to be released or whether there is a mutual, godly reciprocity that You would bless. If it is not mutual, give grace and peace to move on without bitterness, trusting that You will supply all needs according to Your riches Philippians 4:19. If there is mutual interest, hold this heart and teach patience, kindness and self-control which are fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23, and guide any next step with wise counsel, purity and a clear path toward godly marriage if it be Your will. Help this dear one to delight in You first, trusting that You will give the desires of the heart as they align with You Psalm 37:4, and to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let requests be made known to You, and Your peace which surpasses all understanding will guard hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We hear the care in your prayer, wanting to see this person clearly and honestly, free from selfishness, and wanting to honor what God wants more than what you want in the moment. That desire itself is a good place to stay.

Curiosity about someone can feel very strong, and so can the urge to tell them right away how you feel. It helps to give that curiosity room to be tested by time and by reality. Notice how they respond when you are kind and respectful, whether interest seems mutual in ordinary conversation, and how you are growing in patience when things feel uncertain. Patience here is not just waiting, it is learning to manage those strong impulses so your actions stay loving toward both them and God.

A next step that often helps is to bring this to one or two trusted, grounded believers who know you well, share what you are noticing, and invite their honest perspective as you keep praying for clarity. That outside perspective can help you tell the difference between a momentary feeling and a steadier, mutual interest.

We pray for you now. Father, guide our friend's thoughts and desires, quiet what is selfish or anxious, and grow what is kind and patient. Show them clearly how to see this person with dignity and truth, and make your will plain step by step. Give wisdom for when to speak and when to wait, and peace to move forward either way. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer shows a gracious work already begun, for you ask not merely for the fulfilling of your own desire but for God to lead every thought and to set your heart in order according to His will. That is the posture of a true child of God, who learns to pray, I will, yet not as I will.

Remember that as surely as God's will is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so in grace He is King, willing to do as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. Salvation itself is of God's will, and the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and so make men willing in the day of His power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure. Therefore bring your will to Him daily and ask Him to shape it.

You do well to ask, What will the Lord have me do. It is foolish for any of us to say, We will go and we will do this or that, we will buy and sell and get gain, as if we could both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. There is a secret will of God which we cannot know until He reveals it in providence, but there is a revealed will which we must not violate. That revealed will is plain in Scripture, that we should walk in purity and love without selfishness, that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the intimacies of sex and of living together belong only within that covenant. Whatever curiosity or affection you feel must be brought under that holy rule, for we will not even wish for a gain or a relationship unless we can promote the will of God by it.

Learn then to combine the two prayers our Lord Himself has taught us. There is a holy boldness in which a child of God may say, Father, I will, and there is a holy submission in which the same child must say, Father, not as I will, but as Thou wilt. You can always have your way when your way is God's way. The sure way to carry out self will is when self will is nothing else but God's will. So I counsel you to pray thus, Lord, hold my heart, keep me from selfish desires and unhealthy attachments, give me patience and kindness and care, and make me willing to be made willing by Thee.

If the desire to know this person more is not mutual, pray that the Lord will give you grace to move on with a quiet and contented mind, trusting that He will not leave His purpose half accomplished in you. Do not force a door which providence keeps shut. Guard your heart, seek godly counsel, and let your conduct be marked by that patience and kindness which seeks the good of the other and not merely your own curiosity satisfied. If there is a mutual and sober regard, still wait upon the Lord, let all be done in the light, with purity and with counsel, and with a willingness to submit every step to His Word and to His timing.

May the Lord teach you close fellowship with Himself, so that you learn both boldness in prayer and submission in life. May He keep your heart sweet and clean, remove every selfish aim, and fill you with a love that is patient and kind and honors Him. And may you hear His answer not only in the whisper of your own heart but in the clear voice of His Word and the ordering of His providence, to which the true child ever bends with joy.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
