Let us pray together in the manner taught by our Lord Jesus Christ, aligning our hearts with God's will and seeking His provision, forgiveness, and protection.
Firstly, we address the prayer to our Father in heaven, acknowledging His sovereignty and holiness. We pray that His name be hallowed, recognizing the sacredness and power in the name of Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus alone that we have access to God, as it is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no other name by which we can be saved, as Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
We pray for God's kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is a submission to God's perfect plan and a desire to see His kingdom expand. It is a commitment to live in obedience to His word, seeking His righteousness, and turning away from sin. As we pray in Jesus' name, we remember that He taught us, "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33).
We ask for our daily bread, trusting in God's provision for our needs. This is not just about physical sustenance, but also a reliance on God for spiritual nourishment and growth. Jesus reminds us, "Don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?', or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things." (Matthew 6:31-32).
We seek forgiveness for our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. This is a reminder of the grace we have received through Jesus Christ and our responsibility to extend that grace to others. As it is written, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:14-15).
Lastly, we pray for deliverance from temptation and protection from the evil one. This is an acknowledgment of our vulnerability to sin and our need for God's strength and guidance. As Paul reminds us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Let us pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
In Jesus' name, we pray for strength, provision, forgiveness, and protection.
