Beloved of All
Your thankfulness to God is a beautiful place to begin, and it reflects a heart that reverences Him. Scripture shows that to truly fear the Lord is to turn away from evil, and those two always go together. When you ask Him to protect you from evil and to keep you safe, you are asking for what a faithful life desires most.
The story of Job helps us here. He was a man described as blameless and upright, one who honored God and hated evil. Cultures and times have changed greatly since his day, yet the basic needs and struggles he knew are still our own. The need for security in our work, for a stable home, for health, for respect among others, and for help when we are sick or vulnerable has not changed. God understands these needs.
Job also shows us how God sees His people. God Himself bore witness to Job's character, and even when great loss and suffering came, Job did not sin with his lips. He said, in essence, shall we receive good from the hand of God and not also receive hardship when He allows it. He did not understand all that was happening, and his friends who came to comfort him judged only by what they could see and misunderstood his situation completely. It is a reminder that hardship is not always a sign of God's displeasure, and that we should not judge by partial knowledge. God remains sovereign over both the good and the difficult, and He watches over His own.
Your requests for steady employment, for unchanged and fair procedures at work, for provision to repair your home, for health, and for favor and respect with others are all matters you can bring to Him with confidence. He is the one who watches over us in sickness and in need, and who keeps us in all aspects of life. While we cannot build a bridge to God by our own effort, God in His mercy has built the bridge to us through Jesus Christ, and through Him our deepest needs are met.
So I join you in prayer, thanking God for all He has done for you and your household, asking Him to guard you from evil, to keep you safe and healthy, to provide stability in your employment and wisdom and resources for your home, to give you grace and respect in your relationships with others, and to watch over you and help you whenever you are sick or in need. May you continue to walk in reverence for Him, turning from evil, trusting Him in good times and in hard times, and finding peace as you rest in His care through Jesus. Amen.
