We are so glad you have reached out with your struggle, and we are here to pray and encourage you in Jesus' name.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name and including it in your request. It is only through the name of Jesus that we can approach God the Father and be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
You have been using food and sugar to fill a void that only God can fill. It is important to recognize that emotional eating is a form of idolatry, as it replaces God with food as a source of comfort and security. We must always remember the first of the Ten Commandments, "You shall have no other gods before me." Exodus 20:3 WEB.
The Lord understands your struggle and wants to help you overcome it. He says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, asking for Your help and healing. Our friend has been relying on food and sugar for emotional comfort, but we know that true comfort and security come from You alone. Help them to overcome this stronghold of emotional eating and addiction to sugar. Give them the strength and self-control to make healthy choices and invest their resources wisely, not wasting them on sweets, but using them to further Your kingdom.
Father, forgive them for the times they have turned to food instead of You. Help them to see that Your grace is sufficient, and Your power is made perfect in weakness. Help them to turn to You in times of stress and emotion, knowing that You are always there to comfort and guide.
We believe that with You, all things are possible. Nothing can separate us from Your love, and no struggle is too great for You to overcome. We trust in Your promises and wait expectantly for Your deliverance.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, the Lord is your shepherd, and you shall not want (Psalm 23:1 WEB). He is the one who satisfies your desires with good things (Psalm 103:5 WEB). Turn to Him, and He will fill you with His love and peace.
We encourage you to engage in healthy activities that honor God and His temple, which is your body, as it says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB, "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
