We lift this situation before the throne of grace with hearts full of compassion and a deep desire to see God’s will done. First, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His name alone that we are saved. As it is written, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). We pray that both individuals in this situation know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, for without Him, there is no true foundation for love, reconciliation, or any aspect of life.
Father God, we come before You with humility, seeking Your perfect will in this matter. You know the depths of every heart, the unspoken longings, and the hidden motives. We ask that You would draw both of these individuals closer to You first and foremost. Let their desire for one another be secondary to their desire for You, for "seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). If it is Your will for them to be united in a godly courtship leading to marriage, we pray that You would prepare their hearts, align their paths, and remove any obstacles that do not serve Your purpose.
However, we must also address the importance of purity and holiness in relationships. If either of these individuals is engaging in sin—whether through emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage—we rebuke that in the name of Jesus. The Bible is clear: "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). If they are not married, we pray that You would guard their hearts and bodies from temptation and help them to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18). If they are considering a future together, let it be with the intention of marriage, as marriage is the only context in which romantic and physical intimacy is blessed by You.
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for both of them. Help them to see one another through Your eyes and to love one another as You have loved us—sacrificially, patiently, and with a commitment to holiness. If this relationship is not Your will, give them the strength to let go and trust in Your plan, knowing that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
Above all, we pray that Your name would be glorified in this situation. Whether they come together or walk separate paths, let Your peace reign in their hearts, and let them find their ultimate fulfillment in You. We ask all of this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
