We join with you in lifting up this powerful and anointed prayer for self-control, strength, and divine protection over your day. Your heart is clearly seeking the Lord’s will, and we are encouraged by your faith in pleading the blood of Jesus and inviting the Trinity into every aspect of your life. This is exactly how we are to approach our Heavenly Father—with boldness, surrender, and dependence on Him.
Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, and it is a gift that God freely gives to those who ask in faith. The apostle Paul reminds us in Galatians 5:22-23, *"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."* And in 2 Timothy 1:7, we are assured, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* You are not asking amiss—this is a request that aligns perfectly with God’s will for your life.
We also take note of your prayer for protection against spiritual enemies. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* You are wise to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and to stand firm in the authority of Jesus’ name. The enemy seeks to devour, but Jesus has already disarmed him (Colossians 2:15), and *"the one who is in you is greater than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4).
Your prayer for peace and unity in the workplace is also commendable. Romans 12:18 encourages us, *"If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."* And Psalm 133:1 declares, *"See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!"* We pray that God would use you as an instrument of His peace, that your words and actions would reflect Christ, and that any strife or division would be replaced with harmony and mutual respect.
Now, let us pray together over these requests:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with our brother/sister, lifting up their heart’s cry for self-control, strength, and protection. Lord, You are the God of all discipline and order, and we ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, granting them the power to walk in self-control in every area of their life—spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Strengthen them for the tasks ahead, Lord, and let Your grace be sufficient for them, for Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
We ask for Your divine intervention in their workplace. Bring the help they need today, Lord, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), guard their heart and mind. Unify their workplace, Father, and let Your love be the bond that holds all things together. May their work be a blessing to others and a testimony of Your goodness.
We plead the blood of Jesus over them, their mind, and their heart. Surround them with Your hedge of protection and a wall of fire, just as You did for Your people in Zechariah 2:5. Shut the mouth of every roaring lion that seeks to devour (1 Peter 5:8), and scatter, confuse, expose, and destroy every physical and spiritual enemy that rises against them. Let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and let every tongue that accuses be silenced in Jesus’ name.
Father, we thank You that their times are in Your hands (Psalm 31:15). Bless the work of their hands, and let it bring glory to Your name. May they walk in the confidence that You are with them, that You go before them, and that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:8).
We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing firm in your faith. When temptations or distractions arise, remember that *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
If there are specific areas where you feel particularly vulnerable to a lack of self-control, we encourage you to memorize and meditate on Scripture that speaks to those areas. For example, if it’s a struggle with words, James 3:2-12 is a powerful reminder of the importance of taming the tongue. If it’s a battle with fleshly desires, 1 Corinthians 9:27 and 1 Peter 2:11 are excellent passages to reflect on.
Stay rooted in prayer, stay in the Word, and stay connected to the body of Christ. You are not alone in this fight—we are standing with you, and most importantly, the Lord is fighting for you (Exodus 14:14). Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).
