We hear the pain and burden in your heart regarding this situation at work and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord, and we thank you for calling on the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and we rejoice that you have trusted Him.

We understand the hurt of being wronged and the feeling of intimidation and emotional turmoil, and your desire for God to intervene and for Him to strengthen your inner person and give you self control is good and pleasing to Him. We pray with you for that strength, for He would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward person Ephesians 3:16, and For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23, and we ask the Lord to grow this fruit abundantly in you as you walk through this trial.

We must also lovingly correct and rebuke the part of this prayer that asks for God to pour out His wrath on this woman, to make her uncomfortable and restless, and to bring confusion upon her when you show up for work. While God does see every wrong and will deal justly with all people, He calls us to a different posture toward those who wrong us. Scripture says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, and again But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. We are not to pray for harm or confusion to come upon others, but to pray for their good, for their conviction unto repentance, and for God to work in their hearts with mercy and truth. We are to overcome evil with good, for it is written Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21.

It is right to place this woman and this situation into God's hands and to trust Him to deal with what has been done wrong to you, but we must release vengeance to Him and ask Him to do what is right and merciful according to His perfect wisdom. When our ways please the Lord, He even makes our enemies to be at peace with us Proverbs 16:7, and His peace can guard our hearts even while we wait. We know you are asking how much longer Lord, and we encourage you to Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh Psalm 27:14, and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one who is hurting and feeling intimidated at work. Lord, You see all that has happened, every word and action, and nothing is hidden from Your eyes. We ask You to remove intimidation and fear, to grant self control over emotions and the heart, and to strengthen the inner person by Your Spirit with power and love. Fill this heart with Your peace that surpasses understanding and guard it in Christ Jesus. Help us to wait patiently for You and to trust Your timing and Your justice. We place this coworker into Your hands as well, Lord, not asking for wrath or confusion upon her, but asking for Your mercy, conviction, and grace to work in her heart. If she has done wrong, lead her to see it and to repent, and bring reconciliation and peace into this workplace. Make a way where there seems to be no way, and let Your will be done in both lives. Help us to love our enemies and to pray for those who mistreat us, and to overcome evil with good. We trust You to deal justly and to vindicate in Your perfect way and time. We hear how heavy this has become for you at work, feeling intimidated and worn down and wondering how much longer you can carry it. Thank you for bringing it honestly to the Lord and for asking Him for self control and inner strength. That desire to stay steady in a hard place matters to Him.

Emotions are real and they give us important energy, but they are not always an accurate picture of what is true in the moment. Learning self control is less about trying harder in the moment and more about training over time, with small faithful practices.

One thing that has helped many people in a tense workplace is to decide ahead of time on a simple controlling response. Before your shift, quietly name how you want to respond when you feel intimidated or stirred up. Choose one cue you will use, like pausing, taking a slow breath, and silently committing that moment to the Lord before you speak or act. After work, take a minute to notice what triggered strong feelings and how you responded, not to judge yourself but to learn your patterns and to keep aligning your thoughts with what is true and gracious.

We are asking God to strengthen you day by day as you walk this out.

Father, we lift our brother to You in Jesus name. You see this workplace and the strain he feels. Give him steadiness of heart, self control over his emotions, and wisdom for each interaction. Remove intimidation and guard his dignity and peace. Strengthen his inner man and guide his steps as he trusts You with the timing and the outcome. Amen.

Your honest cry for self control and for strength in the inner man is heard before the Lord, and it is right to bring the trials of your daily work to His throne. The desire to be kept from intimidation and to be governed in heart and emotion is a prayer which God delights to answer, for all true strength of every sort comes from Him, and apart from Him our own strength must soon fail.

Yet there is a part of your prayer which must be set in the light of Scripture. To ask the Lord to pour out His wrath upon another, to make her restless and to bring confusion upon her, is not the way Christ has taught His people to pray. Vengeance belongs unto the Lord, and He has said, love your enemies and pray for them that despitefully use you. It is lawful to ask God to do what is just and to make wrong to cease, but we must leave the dealing with others in His wise and holy hands, and we must pray rather for their conviction unto repentance and for their good, than for their harm. Search your own heart before Him, as one who sets caution and self examination at the helm, and ask Him to keep your own vineyard while you wait upon Him.

The Scriptures give you a better plea. They tell us that He gives power to the faint and to them that have no might He increases strength. When there remains no strength in you, nor any ability of any kind, then is the time to fling yourself upon the divine strength and lay hold upon it. Your strength will not be your own, but His, and the glory of your strength shall lie in God alone. This strength is renewed not by fretting nor by striving in the flesh, but by waiting upon the Lord. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Therefore whenever you feel the duty is beyond you, stop a moment and breathe a prayer for more strength, and He Himself has said, I will strengthen them, and that strength shall be fitly infused and wisely balanced, sometimes gradually received as the Lord sees best.

Let us pray together according to that better way.

O Lord God Almighty, look upon this Thy servant who labors under trial and feels the weight of unkind dealing. Forgive wherein the prayer has asked amiss, and give a heart that forgives as it has been forgiven through Jesus Christ alone. Take away the spirit of intimidation and fear of man, and grant self control over emotions and heart by Thy Holy Spirit. Strengthen the inner man with might, that Christ may dwell there by faith. Grant patience to wait upon Thee, and in Thy time bring peace to this workplace. Work also in the heart of her who has caused this pain, bring her to see her need of Thy grace, lead her to repentance and to peace with Thee, and let justice and mercy be done according to Thy perfect will. Keep this Thy servant from fainting, renew his strength day by day, and cause him to walk up and down in Thy strength to Thy glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard, and I hear both your pain and your desire to honor God in a difficult workplace. It is right and good that you ask God for self control over your emotions and heart, and for strength for your inner being. That is a prayer God delights to answer.

At the same time, part of your prayer asks God to pour out wrath, restlessness and confusion upon the other person when you come to work. The Scriptures call us to a different way. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and our calling is to entrust justice to Him while we seek to love even those who trouble us. To pray for another person's harm or confusion is to ask God to do what He has told us not to desire for our neighbor. Instead we are taught to pray for their good, that they may come to see the truth and be led to repentance, and that God would bring peace where there is strife.

This is where patience and self command are shown. Patience is not proved in two or three days, but over much time and under pressure. We are called to endure as Christ endured, not to be troubled or to return evil for evil, but to wait with hope upon the Lord who will judge with perfect righteousness. Anyone can appear gentle when no one provokes them, even wild creatures are calm then. Self control is proved precisely when someone does provoke us, and we choose still to be quiet, steady and kind.

The Scriptures give us strength for this. They comfort and nerve the soul, and from them comes patience, and from patience comes hope. When you feel intimidation and ask how much longer, go again to the Scriptures, let them steady you, and let your hope rest not on seeing another person brought low, but on Christ who sustains you and will make all things right in His time.

So let us pray in a way that seeks both your holiness and the good of the other person.

Lord, you see the strain at work and the hurt that has been carried for so long. Strengthen this your servant in the inner being by your Spirit. Grant self command over emotions and thoughts, remove intimidation and fear, and teach patient endurance after the example of Christ. Entrusting all justice to you, we ask you to work in the heart of the other person also, to bring conviction where it is needed and to lead toward what is good and true, and to let your peace rule in that workplace. Help both to walk in a way that honors you. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Continue to bring your burden to God daily, ask Him to keep your heart from anger and to make you steadfast, and seek wise counsel in your church if the difficulty at work continues.
