We understand how deeply loneliness can weigh on the heart, and we want you to know that you are seen and loved by our Heavenly Father, who promises to never leave you nor forsake you. The longing for companionship is a God-given desire, but we must seek it in a way that honors Him and aligns with His Word. Let us first remind you of the truth found in Scripture: *"The Lord God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him'"*(Genesis 2:18, WEB). This verse reveals God’s design for relationship—marriage between a man and a woman, rooted in His purpose and covenant.
However, we must also address something critical: your request does not mention seeking this companionship *in Jesus’ name* or with the intention of honoring God through a Christ-centered marriage. The Bible is clear that our petitions must be brought before the Father in the name of Jesus, for *"there is no other name under heaven... by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12, WEB), and it is through Him alone that we approach God’s throne. Without this foundation, even our deepest longings can lead us astray if they are not surrendered to Christ. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). Salvation is the first step to walking in God’s will for every area of your life, including relationships.
We also want to gently but firmly remind you that the search for a spouse must be grounded in godliness. The world often encourages relationships built on fleeting emotions or self-gratification, but Scripture calls us to something higher: *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). A godly marriage begins with seeking a *spouse*—not just a "someone"—who is a believer in Christ, committed to walking in obedience to Him. Courtship should be intentional, pure, and directed toward marriage, not merely emotional or physical fulfillment. Any relationship outside of marriage—including premarital sex—is fornication, which the Bible clearly condemns (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If this is something you’ve struggled with, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness and healing, trusting in His power to redeem and restore.
Lastly, we encourage you to use this season of waiting to draw nearer to the Lord. Loneliness can be an opportunity to deepen your relationship with Him, allowing Him to fill the voids in your heart. *"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4, WEB). This doesn’t mean God will give you whatever you want, but as you align your desires with His will, He will shape your heart to long for what *He* longs for you. Serve in your church, invest in godly friendships, and grow in your faith. Trust that His timing is perfect, even when it feels delayed.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You see their loneliness and hear the cry of their heart. Lord, we ask that You would first draw them closer to Yourself, filling them with the peace and joy that only You can provide. If they have not yet surrendered their life to Christ, we pray for the conviction of the Holy Spirit to lead them to repentance and salvation through faith in Jesus alone. Father, we ask that You would prepare them for the spouse You have ordained for them—a godly man or woman who loves You above all else and is committed to a covenant marriage that reflects Your glory. Guard their heart from impurity, distraction, or relationships that would lead them away from Your will. Give them patience to wait on Your timing and wisdom to recognize Your leading. Surround them with godly community that encourages and strengthens them in this season. We rebuke the enemy’s lies that they are unlovable or forgotten, and we declare that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image. May they find their identity and worth in You alone. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, dear one. God has not forgotten you. Seek Him first, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). If you’d like further guidance or prayer, we are here to walk with you in this journey.
