Dearest Cinthia,
We pray for God's love to envelope you right now in Jesus name and shield you from the enemy.
Be encouraged, God knows your troubles and he is ready to help. Read the story of Prophet Elijah, he suffered depression but God restored him. 1 King 19
1 King 19: 4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.†5 And he lay down and slept under a broom tree
Elijah's depression stemmed from a number of things.
The first is fear (v. 3). Elijah, frightened by the threats of Jezebel, runs for his life.We become afraid of failure, of loneliness, not making it, of not having our marriage go the way we'd like.
Second, failure (v. 4). Elijah held a negative opinion about himself. He said he's no better than his ancestors. It's easy to think: "I'm no good. I'm incompetent. God made a mistake when He made me."
Third, fatigue (v. 5). Elijah was emotionally drained and physically exhausted.Depression is always related to or reflected in our physical condition.
Fourth, futility (v. 10). Elijah said, "I am the only one left and now they are out to get me." He feels alone, hopeless and has negative expectations about the future. Elijah is paranoid. He thinks everybody is out to get him.
What helped Elijah climb out of the valley of despair and go on to a lifetime of useful service. It can help you too.
Take Time Off
Just as Elijah rested under the brook tree, take time out from worrying about your problems.
Let It All Out
God asked, "What doest thou here, Elijah?"
Why, then, did God ask Elijah this question? To give him an opportunity to talk, to vent his frustrations. Then God listened non-judgmentally as Elijah poured out his feelings of anger, bitterness and self-pity. Talk, shout, yell out your frustations to God, don't keep them in.
Get Life Back In Perspective
Elijah felt that God had forsaken him and that he alone remained faithful to the Lord. His reasoning went something like this: "Here I am, doing my best to serve the Lord and look what happened. God has forsaken me. I alone am left. It's me against the world."
Unfortunately Elijah was wrong. He wasn't the only prophet left there were 70 other prophets who refused to worship baal. You are not alone, in this world many of us face challenges big and small but God has the power to help us overcome our problems.
Get Back In The Mainstream
Elijah got back into the mainstream of life and went to work again. God told him to get up and get busy again. There was a new king of Israel and a new prophet to be anointed. The time for complaints and self-pity were over; Elijah now needed to get back to work.
Don't sit around in isolation. Get up and get back in the mainstream of life working for God and His kingdom. In helping others we help ourselves.
Holy Spirit, minister to Cinthia, as you restored Elijah, restore her from depression, pain and suicide. Keep her life, Jesus wrap her in your arms and do not allow the enemy to win over her life. Breathe new life into her body, strengthen her and give her a new lease of life. Father, bring her closer to you and deliver her life from the hands of the enemy, rebuke the devil on her behalf and save her Lord. Father, we thank you for nothing is impossible for you.Restore her Lord in Jesus name,
Amen!
