Beloved of All
I have made many bad mistakes in my life that have culminated in a very miserable old age. Every aspect of my life has been affected. My finances are gone. My family is gone. I never was married and never had children. I'm all alone. This world is very miserable to me. I spend my time ruminating about the bad choices I made and how much better it would be now if I had followed the path of the Lord. I just want to go back and live my life over and take away the pain I caused myself and others. I want to overcome the depression and addiction and appreciate the life I had then and live it the best that I could. I want to be the man God created me to be and have that life now. Of course I know I cannot do that. It's the past and it's gone and I am stuck in this dystopian future world. I have to make the best of what I have and go on from here. I just can't seem to do what I need to do. I am a born again believer in Jesus Christ but I am defeated.

We hear the deep sorrow and regret in your heart, and we grieve with you over the pain of a life that feels broken by past mistakes. Yet we also rejoice that you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, for this means your story is not over—it is being rewritten by the One who makes all things new. The enemy wants you to believe your life is beyond redemption, that your failures define you, and that God’s purposes for you are irreparably lost. But these are lies. The truth is that while you cannot change the past, God is not bound by it. He specializes in taking what is shattered and creating something beautiful from the pieces. Your life is not a dystopian wasteland in His eyes; it is a canvas He is still painting, and He is not finished yet.

You spoke of never marrying or having children, and we acknowledge the deep loneliness that comes from unfulfilled longings. The Bible honors marriage and family as gifts from God, but it also lifts up the singular devotion of those who serve Him undivided. Jesus Himself was unmarried, and the apostle Paul wrote of the advantages of celibacy for the sake of the Kingdom (1 Corinthians 7:32-35). Your life, though different from what you envisioned, is not without purpose. God has placed you in this season for a reason, and He can use your experiences—even the painful ones—to minister to others in ways a married man with children could not. Your solitude can become a sacred space where you meet with God in ways that shape your soul for eternity.

As for the depression and addiction that weigh you down, these are not signs of God’s absence but of the enemy’s relentless attacks against a child of God. Depression is a real and heavy burden, but it is not your master. Addiction may feel like a chain you cannot break, but Jesus has already shattered its power over you (Romans 6:6-7). You are not defeated unless you choose to remain in bondage. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11), and He is stronger than any stronghold. We urge you to take practical steps: seek godly counseling, confess your struggles to trusted believers, and immerse yourself in Scripture. The psalmist wrote, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence"* (Psalm 42:5). This is not a hollow command; it is an invitation to shift your gaze from your circumstances to the God who holds your future.

You mentioned ruminating over the past, and we gently rebuke this habit, for it is a thief of the present and a saboteur of the future. God does not call you to live in regret but in repentance—a turning away from sin and a turning toward Him. Repentance is not wallowing in guilt; it is receiving God’s forgiveness and walking in newness of life. Jesus said, *"No one, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for God’s Kingdom"* (Luke 9:62). Your past is forgiven (1 John 1:9), and your future is held by the One who declares, *"Behold, I make all things new"* (Revelation 21:5). Will you trust Him with today?

We also address the hopelessness you feel about the world around you. This world *is* broken—sin has marred everything—but it is not your ultimate home. You are a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20), and your true life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). The dystopia you see is temporary; the Kingdom you belong to is eternal. Instead of fixating on how miserable this world is, ask God how He wants to use you *in* it. Your pain can become a bridge to others who are lost. Your scars can testify to the healing power of Jesus. Even now, in your old age, God can bring forth fruit from what feels like a barren season (Psalm 92:14).

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift our brother before You, a man who feels crushed under the weight of his past and overwhelmed by the emptiness of his present. Lord, we ask that You break the chains of depression and addiction that have held him captive. Fill the empty places in his heart with Your presence, for You are the God who sees the lonely and sets them in families (Psalm 68:6). Though he has no earthly wife or children, remind him that he is part of Your household, a son in Your Kingdom, and a brother to all who belong to Christ.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of regret that torments him. By the blood of Jesus, we declare that his sins are forgiven—past, present, and future—and that You are redeeming his story for Your glory. Give him the grace to release what cannot be changed and the faith to embrace what You are still doing. Replace his rumination with meditation on Your Word, which is a lamp to his feet and a light to his path (Psalm 119:105).

Lord, we ask for divine connections—godly friends, mentors, or even a church community where he can find belonging and purpose. If it is Your will, restore relationships in his family that have been broken. Soften hearts and open doors for reconciliation where possible. But even if that does not happen, let him know that You are enough. You are his portion (Psalm 73:26), and in You, he lacks no good thing.

We pray for supernatural strength to overcome addiction. Lead him to resources, accountability, and the courage to walk in freedom. Break the power of every stronghold in his mind and body, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Let him experience the truth that *"old things have passed away, and behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Finally, Lord, give him a vision for the future—even in old age. Show him that his life still has meaning, that his days are not wasted, and that You have works prepared for him to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). Let him finish strong, with his eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of his faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We declare these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who makes all things new. Amen.

Brother, we leave you with this charge: *"Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win. Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. I therefore run like that, as not uncertainly. I fight like that, as not beating the air, but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected"* (1 Corinthians 9:24-27). Your race is not over. Rise up, take hold of the hope set before you, and run with endurance. We are standing with you in prayer.

We hear your cry, dear brother, and we're here to remind you that even in the darkest night, the dawn is always near. We've been where you are, feeling the weight of past mistakes, the loneliness of unfulfilled longings, and the despair of a life that seems beyond redemption. But we're also here to tell you that your story isn't over yet. It's being rewritten by the Master Author, who specializes in turning ashes into beauty.

You're right, the past is gone, and it can't be changed. But God isn't bound by what was. He's painting a new picture with your life, and He's not finished yet. Your life isn't a dystopian wasteland; it's a canvas waiting for His masterpiece.

We understand the pain of never having married or had children. It's a deep ache that can feel like a gaping hole in your heart. But remember, God sees you. He knows your loneliness, and He's inviting you into a deeper relationship with Him. Your life, though different from what you envisioned, has purpose. God has placed you in this season for a reason, and He can use your experiences to minister to others in ways a married man with children couldn't.

As for the depression and addiction that weigh you down, know this: they don't define you. You're not defeated unless you choose to remain in bondage. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

I prayed God's perfect will for you as His child. I learned most life lessons in my twilight years due to salvation, Bible reading, a Christian therapist, (free)support groups and two Bible-based churches.

*Please daily read God's love letter/ His instruction manual (The Bible) - it is pivotal to a joyful life. Also, part of the Serenity Prayer says: "God, grant me the courage to change the things I CAN . . ."

*I changed my life through the above support systems! Jeremiah 29:11 is y(our) verse because God is not through with us. Gratefully, He is patient and allows us more time to follow His will - His best - for us. This inevitably involves service, I've found... it brings not only God and others joy .. and grants US joy & blessings.

Father, please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen

"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!
