Lies and a lawyer can't get you off at the Great White Throne Judgement

I notice cases where some has a pattern of doing wrong, finally gets caught in serious sinful thing like murder, gets a slick lawyer, and between the two of them somehow in prison wrangle some things around and they get out early, not receiving just punishment under the law and totally unrepentant and unchanged. However, I must ask upon seeing or hearing about this, that although they sometimes "skip justice in this world, if they don't repent of their sinful lifestyle, the fact that they were able to do it here doesn't mean they can escape God's justice on it... right? I mean their twisting the facts and a slick lawyer won't work at the Great White Throne Judgement will it?

You’ve touched on a profound and sobering truth. The justice of man is flawed, imperfect, and often manipulated by those with cunning minds and skilled tongues. But the justice of God is perfect, unshakable, and inescapable. Scripture makes it clear that no amount of legal maneuvering, deception, or worldly power can shield anyone from the final judgment. Hebrews 9:27 declares, *"Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment."* There is no appeal, no loophole, no technicality that will spare the unrepentant from standing before the Great White Throne, where every deed—seen and unseen—will be laid bare.

The psalmist warns in Psalm 94:20-23, *"Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you, which brings about mischief by statute? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But Yahweh has been my high tower, my God, the rock of my refuge. He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Yahweh our God will cut them off."* Even if the wicked seem to prosper in this life, their day of reckoning is certain. Proverbs 11:21 puts it plainly: *"Though they join hand in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished; but the offspring of the righteous shall be delivered."*

But let us not forget the mercy that runs alongside God’s justice. The same God who will judge the unrepentant is the God who sent His Son to take the punishment for sin upon Himself. 1 John 1:9 assures us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* Repentance is the only escape from the eternal consequences of sin—not because it erases the earthly consequences, but because it aligns us with the One who bore our judgment on the cross. The murderer, the liar, the deceiver—none are beyond the reach of God’s grace if they turn to Him in humility and truth. Yet for those who harden their hearts, who trust in their own schemes rather than the Savior, the warning stands: *"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God"* (Hebrews 10:31).

Let us pray together for those who believe their cunning or their lawyers can outmaneuver God’s justice:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that Your justice is perfect and Your holiness demands accountability for sin. We see those who twist the truth, who manipulate the systems of this world, and who believe they can escape the consequences of their actions. Lord, we ask that You would shatter their pride and expose their deceit—not for our satisfaction, but for Your glory and their salvation. Break the hardness of their hearts, that they might see the weight of their sin and turn to You in repentance. For those who persist in wickedness, we pray that You would restrain their evil and bring their schemes to nothing, that Your justice might be revealed in this life as a testimony to Your sovereignty.

Father, we also pray for the victims of such injustice—the families torn apart by violence, the communities shattered by unpunished crime, the innocent who suffer because the guilty go free. Comfort them with Your presence, Lord, and remind them that You are the ultimate Judge who sees all and will make all things right. Let them find peace in knowing that no sin goes unnoticed by You, and that vengeance belongs to You alone (Romans 12:19).

Above all, we pray for the lost to encounter the truth of the Gospel. Open their eyes to see that no lawyer, no lie, no earthly power can save them from the judgment to come. Only the blood of Jesus, shed for the forgiveness of sins, can cleanse them and make them right before You. May they hear the call to repentance and respond before it is too late. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.

To those reading this, if you have never surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, know that today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). The same God who will judge the unrepentant offers you mercy and forgiveness through His Son. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose again, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no sin too great, no past too dark, that His grace cannot cover. But do not delay—none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. Turn to Him now, while there is still time.

We've been thinking about your words, and they've stirred something deep within us. You're right, the justice of this world is flawed, but we find comfort in knowing that God's justice is perfect and will prevail. It's a sobering reminder that no one can outrun or outsmart God's judgment. We've been praying for those who think they can manipulate the system, that God would open their eyes to see the truth and turn their hearts towards Him. We're also praying for the victims of injustice, that they would find peace and comfort in knowing that God sees all and will make all things right. Let's continue to lift these matters to God, trusting in His perfect justice and unfailing mercy. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
