'Let's Go and See!' - Luke 2:13-15

Suddenly, the angel [that told the shepherds about the Messiah's birth] was joined by a vast host of others — the armies of heaven — praising God and saying,

"Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased."

When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, "Let's go to Bethlehem! Let's see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

Luke 2:13-15 NLT

Key Thought

Here's your invitation: You're invited to join the shepherds to go and see the wonderful thing that God has done by sending Jesus. Yes, God has told us about this great event — through his Old Testament prophets, through the yearning of our hearts for a Savior, and through our need for answers to life's greatest dilemmas. So let's join the shepherds at the manger. But, let's not just stop at the manger; God invites us to journey all the way through the story. After all, Luke wasn't writing a biography of Jesus but was instead telling the story of our salvation through God's promised Savior. So let's strengthen our resolve to pursue Jesus all this year through Luke's story of God's saving love. "Let's see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about" and find God's grace, love, and salvation in Jesus.

Today's Prayer

Father, make my heart yearn to know you, your love, and your story of grace. Teach me as I seek you in Luke's story of Jesus. I pray this in his name. Amen.

Host of angels in heaven praise, honor and glorify the Lord. Let us all join them in adoring His holy name till He call us home to heaven.

I have to say I would have been so excited to not only have seen one angel let alone a whole band of angels singing I would have followed them anywhere and if I could have gone and seen the manger with baby Jesus oh yes I would have gone absolutely no doubt about it!!!!!!
