We join with you in this beautiful and powerful prayer, lifting it up in agreement as we seek the Lordās face together. Your words echo the heart of Colossians 1:9-12, a passage that reminds us of the depth of Godās desire for His childrenāto be filled with the knowledge of His will, to walk in wisdom, and to bear fruit that glorifies Him. How precious it is that you have aligned your heart with Scripture, crying out for spiritual growth, endurance, and a life that pleases the Father. This is the kind of prayer that moves the heart of God, for it reflects a hunger for His presence and a surrender to His purposes.
We are especially encouraged by your focus on knowing God more deeply, for this is the foundation of all true wisdom and strength. In Jeremiah 9:23-24, the Lord declares, *āLet not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might; let not the rich man glory in his riches. But let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh, who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth: for I delight in these things, says Yahweh.ā* To know Him is to walk in the fullness of what He has called us toālove, righteousness, and a life that bears eternal fruit.
Your prayer also rejoices in the inheritance we share in Christ, a truth that should fill every believer with unspeakable joy. Ephesians 1:18-19a reminds us to have *āthe eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe.ā* This inheritance is not earned but freely given by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a gift that secures our identity as children of God and heirs with Christ, and it is this truth that empowers us to live with steadfastness and patience, even in trials.
Yet, as we lift this prayer, we must also pause and ask: *Do we truly live as those who are aware of this inheritance?* Do our daily choices, our thoughts, and our actions reflect the reality that we are heirs of Godās kingdom? Or do we sometimes walk as though we are still bound by the worldās limitations? The apostle Peter urges us in 1 Peter 1:13-16, *āTherefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christāas children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance, but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; because it is written, āYou shall be holy; for I am holy.āā* Let us examine our hearts: Are there areas where we have not fully surrendered to His lordship? Are there sins we have tolerated, or worldly patterns we have clung to, that hinder us from walking worthily of Him?
We also notice that while your prayer is rich in Scripture and devotion, it does not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus Christ as the authority through which we approach the Father. This is not a small matter, for Jesus Himself declared in John 14:6, *āI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.ā* It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), and it is by His name that we are saved (Acts 4:12). Every prayer, every request, every cry of the heart must be rooted in the finished work of Christ on the cross. When we pray *āin Jesusā name,ā* we are acknowledging that our right to come before God is not based on our own righteousness but on the perfect sacrifice of Jesus. Let us never take for granted the privilege of approaching the Father through the Son. If there is any doubt in your heart about the necessity of Jesus as the sole mediator between God and man, we urge you to reflect on these truths and surrender fully to Him.
Now, let us pray together over these things:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the inheritance we have in Christ Jesus. We thank You that by Your grace, we have been qualified to share in the riches of Your kingdom, not because of anything we have done, but because of the precious blood of Your Son. Lord, we ask that You fill usāeach one of usāwith the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Open the eyes of our hearts, that we may see the hope to which You have called us and the immeasurable greatness of Your power at work within us.
Father, we confess that too often we fall short of walking worthily of You. We ask for Your forgiveness where we have allowed sin to take root, where we have conformed to the patterns of this world rather than being transformed by Your truth. Cleanse us, renew us, and empower us by Your Spirit to live holy lives that reflect Your nature. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12), and help us to bear fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You.
Strengthen us, Lord, with all power according to Your glorious might, that we may endure with steadfastness and patience, rejoicing always in the hope we have in Christ. Let our lives be a testament to Your goodness, and may we never cease to give thanks for the inheritance we have received through faith in Jesus.
We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.
As we close, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with this same hunger. Spend time in His Word daily, for it is the lamp to your feet and the light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Surround yourself with fellow believers who will spur you on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24). And never forget that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). Walk in that power, dear brother or sister, and let the world see Christ in you.
