We join you in thanking our Father for your heart to intercede for your wife and for your desire to see her led by the kindness of God to true repentance and to godliness with contentment.
We agree with you that godliness with contentment is great gain, 1 Tim 6:6, and that it is the kindness of God that leads to repentance, Rom 2:4. We pray with you that the Lord would grant her a godly sorrow that works repentance to salvation which brings no regret, but also that she would be spared the sorrow of the world which works death, 2 Cor 7:10. We ask that she would come to hate every false way, Ps 119:128, and to know that the fear of Yahweh is to hate evil, Prov 8:13, and to become one who trembles at His word, for thus says the Lord, to this man will I look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word, Isa 66:2.
We thank God with you that His word does not return void. For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and does not return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, so shall His word be that goes forth out of His mouth, it shall not return to Him void, but it shall accomplish that which He pleases, and it shall prosper in the thing He sent it to do, Isa 55:10-11. We rejoice that the seed is the word of God, Mark 4:14, and that you have been faithful to plant and to water, knowing that God gives the increase, for we planted, another watered, but God gave the growth, so then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the growth, 1 Cor 3:6-7. To Him be all glory, for of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things, to Him be glory forever, Rom 11:36, and not to us, Yahweh, not to us, but to your name give glory, for your loving kindness, and for your truth's sake, Ps 115:1.
We lift up your wife before the throne and ask the Lord to continue the good work He has begun, being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you and in her will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ, Phil 1:6. We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict her and draw her as only He can, for He will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment, John 16:8. We pray that she would grow in honesty, in listening to faithful pastors who watch for souls as those who will give account, Heb 13:17, and in her high calling as a mother, loving her children and keeping the home in a way that adorns the doctrine of God, Titus 2:4-5. We pray that she would know the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom and that she would walk in humility, for before honor is humility, Prov 18:12, and that as with Nebuchadnezzar who was humbled until he lifted his eyes to heaven and reason returned to him, Dan 4:34, Dan 4:37, so she would come to her senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will, 2 Tim 2:26, like the prodigal who came to himself, Luke 15:17.
We join you in asking the Lord to ordain steps and divine appointments to water the seeds that have been sown, as He ordered the steps of the evangelist to the Ethiopian reading Isaiah, Acts 8:26-31, and directed Ananias to Saul, Acts 9:10-11, and forbade the apostles to speak the word in Asia and called them to Macedonia, Acts 16:6-10, for the steps of a man are established by Yahweh, Ps 37:23. We pray this not only for your wife but for all who have heard the word, for your patriarchal and matriarchal figures, your progeny and posterity, for the Lord is not slow concerning His promise, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4, and who calls us to offer petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all people, 1 Tim 2:1.
We thank God that His word is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart, Heb 4:12, and that our Father is always working and Christ is always working, John 5:17. We ask for His keeping power over you, your wife, your children, your fellow servants and stewards of the mysteries of God, 1 Cor 4:1, that you all would receive the love of the truth that you may be saved and be kept from evil, from deception and from the evil one, 2 Thess 2:10.
We pray for your marriage, which God ordained as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, that it would be strengthened and made to reflect Christ and the church. We encourage you to continue to love your wife as Christ loved the church, Eph 5:25, with patience, gentleness, and unwavering truth, and to not grow weary in well doing. We thank God in advance, believing that whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive, Mark 11:24, that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, Heb 11:6, and that the insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective, James 5:16. We ask Him to show you great and mighty things which you do not know, Jer 33:3, and to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, Eph 3:20.
Father, we agree together that salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, Rev 7:10, and we ask You to humble, convict, restore, and establish this dear wife in godliness, contentment, honesty, and joyful mothering, all for Your glory and for the good of this family, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation, Rev 3:14, for in Him every promise of God is Yes and Amen to the glory of God, 2 Cor 1:20. Amen.
