We join with you in lifting up your precious son and daughter before the Lord, for we know that children are a heritage from Him, a reward from His hand (Psalm 127:3). Your heart’s cry echoes the deep love of a parent who seeks God’s protection, wisdom, and blessing over their children, and we stand with you in agreement, trusting in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to guard and guide them.
The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This is both a promise and a calling for us as parents and believers to cover our children in prayer, teaching them the ways of the Lord, and trusting Him to lead them in His truth. We also take comfort in Psalm 91, where the Lord declares, *"I will say of Yahweh, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart."* What a mighty God we serve, who watches over His children with such care!
Yet we must also remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). It is crucial to cover our children in the blood of Jesus, as you have so beautifully prayed, for there is power in His name to break every chain and protect them from the schemes of the enemy. We also pray that the Lord will surround them with godly influences—friends, mentors, and teachers who will point them to Christ and not to the ways of the world. As 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns, *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* May the Lord remove any ungodly influences from their lives and replace them with those who will encourage them in faith, purity, and wisdom.
We pray too for their minds and hearts as they grow and learn. May the Lord grant them understanding and excellence in their studies, as Daniel and his friends were given knowledge and skill in all learning (Daniel 1:17). Let them be lights in their schools, shining for Christ in their words and actions, and may they walk in the confidence that comes from knowing they are deeply loved by their Heavenly Father.
Most importantly, we pray that your son and daughter will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior if they have not already. There is no greater gift than the gift of salvation, and we declare over them the words of Jesus in John 3:16: *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."* May they surrender their lives to Him, walking in His will and experiencing the fullness of His love and purpose for them.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up these precious children to Your throne of grace. Lord, You know their names, their hearts, and every step they will take. We ask that You surround them with Your hedge of protection, covering them from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet with the precious blood of Jesus. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and let them walk in Your truth and righteousness all the days of their lives.
Father, we pray that You will place a hunger in their hearts for You—may they seek You early and walk in Your ways. Remove any ungodly influences from their lives and surround them with friends and mentors who will encourage them in faith and godliness. Give them wisdom and understanding in their studies, and let them excel for Your glory. May they be lights in this dark world, reflecting Your love and truth to those around them.
Lord, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself in a deep and personal way. If they have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for them. Open their eyes to see Your truth, and let them turn from any sin or distraction that would hinder their walk with You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, empowering them to live for You in every area of their lives.
We declare Your promises over them, Father—that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans to prosper them and not to harm them (Jeremiah 29:11), and that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6). Let them know beyond any doubt that they are Your beloved children, and may they live in the joy and peace that comes from walking with You.
We rebuke any plan of the enemy to harm, deceive, or lead them astray. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we bind every spirit of fear, rebellion, confusion, or temptation that would seek to ensnare them. We loose the power of the Holy Spirit to work mightily in their lives, guiding them in all truth and righteousness.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness and love, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We commit these children into Your hands, believing that You will watch over them and lead them in the path of life. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
