Humble Servant of All
June 14, 2013 I help a 62 years old homeless man named William Clark. He's a disabled man on a wheel chair that the hospital had given him on that day of his discharge. He had been admitted in the hospital for 3 weeks. As I was sitting on the bus going home I noticed a hospital staff wheel Mr. Clark on the bus and gave the bus driver a note. I fell asleep on the bus and missed my stop. I woke up and looked to see if Mr. Clark was still on the bus. He was. I than noticed the bus driver telling Mr. Clark that he had to get off his bus and catch another bus because the address that he was going too was not on his route. Than he wheeled Mr. Clark off the bus. I got off the bus as well. I approached Mr. Clark and asked him where he was going. He handed me the note. The note gave a homeless shelter address. I told Mr. Clark that I would wait with him till his bus got there. The bus arrived. I told the bus driver Mr. Clarks situation and asked him to drop him at the address that was on the note. I wheeled Mr.Clark on the bus. As the bus was closing its doors and driving away, I heard the driver telling Mr. Clark that he was going to drop him off at the next stop and for him to take another bus cause the address was not on his route. I walked back across the street to catch my bus to go home. As I was waiting for the bus, I, kept thinking of Mr. Clark. I decided to go look for him. Mr. Clark was sitting on his wheel chair at the next stop. I got up and told the bus driver about Mr. Clark situation and asked him if he could wait a minute so I could get Mr. Clark on the bus. Bus driver agreed and I wheel Mr. Clark on the bus. The bus dropped us by the homeless shelter. The manager at the shelter told us that they don't accommodate disabled people and gave me another shelter address. I wheeled Mr. Clark on his wheel chair a quarter of a mile to the bus stop. We waited for the bus for about half an hour. At the next shelter we were told that they couldn't accommodate a disabled man. At that moment I thought about Joseph and Mary looking for a room for the night and all doors were shut. And they ended up at a manger and had Jesus. I broke down and started crying and asked the shelter manager for help. The shelter manager escorted us out and said that he was sorry that he couldn't help us. He gave Mr. Clark a sandwich and prayed for me. He than told me to try another shelter. We got on the bus and got off at another shelter address to find out that the shelter was not a shelter but a rescue mission thrift store. At this point I decided I was going to take Mr. Clark home and asked him if he wanted to come home with me. He said he would and thanked me. As we waited for the bus Mr.Clark was feeling sick and cold. The hospital had given him a sweater so I put it on him. He said his head and ears was cold. I didn't have anything for him to cover his head but noticed in the plastic bag he had diapers that the hospital gave him. He told me to put the diaper over his head. While we waited for the bus Mr. Clark was feeling sick and asked me to take him back to the hospital. I took him to the hospital emergency room. I informed the staff his situation. Since he was discharged that same day they still had his information on file. They told me that he had serious liver and kidney disease. They informed us that the wait was 15 hours in the waiting room. Mr. Clark didn't have any problem waiting and the staff informed me that it would be better that he stayed. The staff assured me that they would take care of him. I gave them my contact information and asked them to call me. I also asked them to have a social worker find him a nursing home or a shelter that could accommodate Mr. Clark. They said they would. By Now its 10:15PM. This all started at 1:00PM. I got home went to sleep woke up the next day and called the emergency room to find that Mr. Clark was still at the emergency room. I had a doctors appointment so I didn't go see Mr. Clark. I called a couple of hours later. The staff told me that he was admitted. I was relieved. Every day I called the hospital to check on him. Five days later I went to visit him. They said he was discharged. Since I was not related to him they would not give me any information. I have been trying to locate him but with no avail. Prayer Warriors pray with me for his safety and pray that he is in a nursing facility and getting the medical help that he needs. I apologize for this long story but I wanted everyone to know that not all homeless people are drug or alcohol addicts. Their people with heart and soul that need our help. Especially the elderly and disabled. There's very limited help for disabled homeless folks out there. If you see a homeless disabled person help them in any way you can. And do prayer for them. They have very little options for them. I have been asking myself for the last 43 years what was my purpose in life. I now know......
