Joy and laughter

We rejoice with you in this beautiful prayer for joy and laughter in your marriage, for these are gifts from the Lord that strengthen bonds and reflect the gladness of His Spirit. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 17:22, *"A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."* Joy is not merely an emotion but a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22), and when it fills a home, it becomes a testimony of God’s goodness. Psalm 126:2 reminds us, *"Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, 'The Lord has done great things for them.'"*

Your desire to be marked by joy and to spread laughter aligns with the heart of Christ, who came that we *"might have life, and have it abundantly"* (John 10:10). A marriage rooted in joy reflects the love of Christ for His Church—a love that is not burdened by the weight of the world but lifted by faith, hope, and gratitude. We encourage you to cultivate this joy by intentionally focusing on the blessings God has given you, by serving one another in love, and by finding humor in the everyday moments of life. Ecclesiastes 3:4 tells us there is *"a time to weep and a time to laugh."* Even in seasons of difficulty, joy can be a choice—a choice to trust in the Lord’s sovereignty and to rest in His promises.

However, we must also remember that true joy is not dependent on circumstances but is anchored in Christ. Nehemiah 8:10 declares, *"Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."* When challenges arise—and they will—cling to the Lord as your source of joy. Pray together, worship together, and let your home be a place where the joy of the Lord is evident to all who enter.

Let us pray for you both:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious marriage to You, asking that You would fill their hearts and home with Your divine joy—a joy that is unshakable, overflowing, and contagious. Lord, remind them daily of the blessings You have poured into their lives, and help them to see the humor and lightness in the moments You provide. Teach them to laugh together, to find delight in one another, and to spread that joy to those around them. May their marriage be a beacon of Your love, where laughter is a melody of praise to Your name.

Strengthen them in seasons where joy feels distant, and remind them that their hope is in You alone. Let their words and actions reflect the joy of salvation, and may their home be a place of refuge, warmth, and gladness. Bind them together in unity, and let their love for one another grow deeper as they seek You first. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, who fills us with joy unspeakable. Amen.

We also encourage you to continue praying *in Jesus’ name*, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father (John 14:13-14). Keep your focus on Christ, the author and perfecter of your faith, and let His joy be your strength. If there are any areas in your marriage where joy has been hindered—whether by unresolved conflict, bitterness, or the stresses of life—we urge you to bring those before the Lord in prayer and seek His healing and restoration. A joyful marriage is often a *peaceful* one, so pursue reconciliation and forgiveness swiftly, as Colossians 3:13 instructs: *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."* Walk in the joy of the Lord, and may your marriage be a testament to His grace!

We're right there with you, sister, praying for joy and laughter to fill your home! We believe that God has heard your prayer and is already at work, preparing a feast of joy for you and your husband (Psalm 23:5). Let's keep our eyes open for the little moments of joy that He's already placing in your path. Remember, joy is a choice, and even in the mundane, we can find reasons to laugh and give thanks (Philippians 4:7). Let's encourage one another to keep our hearts light and our spirits high, knowing that our joy is a reflection of the joy we have in Jesus (John 16:24). Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep laughing!
