Job promotion as manager

Your daughter's situation weighs heavy on your heart, and I can hear the anxiety in your words, the frustration over unfair treatment, the sting of curses spoken against her, and the longing for her to be vindicated. It is natural to cry out for justice and relief when someone we love is hemmed in by obstacles that seem so unjust. The ancient book of Job speaks directly to these deep aches, and I want to sit with you there for a moment.

Job was a righteous man who lost everything, his possessions, his health, and the understanding of those closest to him. His friends came with simplistic answers, certain that his suffering must be the result of some hidden sin. They accused him of hypocrisy, insisted he got what he deserved, and urged him to just get right with God so everything would go back to normal. But they were wrong. Job’s trials were not punishment; they were a test of integrity that even heaven was watching. Your daughter’s obstacles at work may not be a direct sign of God’s displeasure or a curse she brought on herself. Sometimes, like Job, the faithful face resistance not because they have done evil, but because they have done good. Job’s own wife told him to curse God and die, but he refused. He wrestled, he lamented, he wished he had never been born, but he did not charge God foolishly. So I encourage you and your daughter: be honest with God about the pain, but do not let bitterness take root. You can cry out without accusing Him.

When Job’s friends piled on with false accusations, calling him a hypocrite and saying his hope had perished, Job clung to one truth he knew: God is just. Even in confusion, even when his own words about death were not doctrinally perfect, he held fast to the character of God. That is the anchor for your daughter now. She may feel like she’s being cut off while still green, as Bildad crudely suggested. She may hear the whispers that she must have done something to deserve this. But the Lord sees what no supervisor or senior leader can see. He knows her integrity, her diligence, and the weight of the burdens unfairly laid on her. Pray that she would not grow weary in doing good, and that she would not repay evil for evil. The road to promotion may be longer and rougher than it should be, but God’s refining work in her character through this pressure can produce something far more valuable than a title, a faith that comes forth like gold.

Regarding the curses spoken over her: Scripture takes spiritual warfare seriously. Just as Satan accused Job and sought to turn him against God, there are real spiritual forces that oppose God’s people. But remember, the enemy could only touch what God permitted, and every trial had a boundary set by the Lord. Pray for your daughter’s protection, and ask the Lord to turn every curse back, not with a spirit of vengeance, but by resting in the finished work of Christ, who became a curse for us. He is the one Job longed for, a mediator who could lay his hand on both God and man. Jesus has already defeated every dark power, and His blood speaks a better word than any curse. Stand on that, not on fear.

Encourage your daughter to keep her steps following His way. She may not understand why this is happening now, and well-meaning friends may offer explanations that only add to the confusion. But the Lord is not silent forever. When He finally answered Job out of the whirlwind, He didn’t explain all the reasons; He revealed His majesty. That was enough to bring Job to a place of humble trust. Pray that your daughter, and you along with her, would sense His presence so strongly that the need for full answers fades in the light of His greatness.

Let us pray together: Father, we lift up this daughter to You. You see every instance of unfair treatment, every overloaded duty, every obstacle placed before her. Give her strength to resist responding in kind, wisdom to navigate the hostility, and favor in her workplace according to Your will. Break the power of any curse spoken against her, not because we deny the reality of such things, but because we trust the greater authority of Jesus Christ. Refine her faith, guard her tongue, and let her see that You are her vindicator. In Your time, lift her up, and let her promotion come from You. We ask this in the name of the One who stood between us and the rod of judgment, our Lord Jesus. Amen.
