We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your son and his circumstances to our Heavenly Father. We rejoice that you have called upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father, and we are grateful that you have recognized this truth in your prayer.
Father God, we stand in agreement with this mother’s plea for her son’s employment. We know that You are the God who provides, and we ask that You open doors of opportunity for him that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Lord, we rebuke the spirit of stagnation and delay that may be hindering his progress. Your Word declares that those who seek You lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10), and we claim that promise over his life. Help him to walk in integrity and wisdom as he seeks employment, and let his probation not be a stumbling block but a testimony of Your grace.
We also lift up his soul before You, for the concerns about his associations and the temptations he faces are real and weighty. Lord Jesus, we ask that You draw him close to You and surround him with godly influences—believers who will encourage him in righteousness and hold him accountable. Your Word warns us, "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company corrupts good morals'" (1 Corinthians 15:33). We pray that You sever any ungodly ties in his life and replace them with relationships that will point him toward You. Deliver him from the snares of weed, alcohol, and sexual immorality, for these things wage war against the soul (1 Peter 2:11). Cover him in the precious blood of Jesus, which cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7), and create in him a clean heart, O God (Psalm 51:10).
Father, we also pray for his salvation if he has not yet surrendered his life to You. We know that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). If he is already Your child, we ask that You deepen his faith and help him to walk in repentance and holiness. Let him not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of his mind (Romans 12:2). Strengthen him to resist temptation and to flee from youthful lusts (2 Timothy 2:22).
We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). Lord, give him a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and let him find his satisfaction in You alone (Matthew 5:6). Surround him with Your angels for protection and guide his steps according to Your will.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
