PRAYER FOR MORE HUMIITY
Heavenly Father, We come before You and ask that You forgive us of all the ways we have not been sufficiently humble before You and for not practicing sufficient humility with those we interact with. Forgive us for all our lack of humility and remove all the pride from our hearts (2 Chr. 32:26; Job 33:17; Ps. 10:4-7). Prepare our hearts and minds to be more humble, to wax stronger in humility and to be more modest (Ps. 10:17; 1 Tim. 2:9). Let us never think to highly of ourselves (Rom. 12:3; 1 Cor. 4:6,10; 2 Cor. 12:6,7) but be like Abraham who considered himself but dust and ashes (Gen. 18:27). Lord, let not our hearts be haughty or our eyes lofty (Ps. 131:1). Let us never look down on or persecute those who are less fortunate than our selves (Ps. 10:2). Help us to walk in that child-like humility that you desire of us ((Mt. 18:1-5). Give us a servant attitude like Jesus (Jn. 13:14,15)and may we never seek to be more honorable, noble or superior than others (Mt. 20:26,27; 23:6-10; Lk. 22:27). Let us not seek for popularity, fame, honor or recognition in this life (Lk. 22:25, 26; Mt. 23:7,8; Jam. 3:1), but to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt us in due time (Jam. 4;10; 1 Pet. 5:6). Grant us the grace (Jam. 4:6) we need to submit ourselves to one another in the fear of God (Eph. 5:21). Let us never be the cause of prideful strife and contention (Prov. 28:25) but in lowliness of mind let us esteem others better than ourselves and be subject one to another in the will of God ((Phil. 2:3; Eph. 5:22; 1 Pet. 5:5). Help us to always humbly admit our mistakes and our unworthiness (Jn. 8:33) so we can receive forgiveness and healing from You and those we offend (1 Sam. 26:21; 2 Sam. 24:10; Lk. 18:13; Jam. 5:16). Let our conversations and attitudes be with meekness of wisdom (Jam. 3:13). With lowliness, meekness and patience let us forbear one another in love (Eph. 4:2). Clothe us with humility that we may be kindhearted, patient, modest, unpretentious, submissive, complaisant, good-natured, sympathetic, peaceful, constrained, simplistic, and meek to everyone we are around (2 Tim. 2:24; Tit. 3:2; 1 Pet. 5:5). Help us, Lord, to overcome the pride of life, worldliness, and the desires of the flesh so we can fulfill Your will (1 Jn. 2:15-17). As we obey Your laws, walk in love, fulfill our Biblical duties and responsibilities and walk uprightly develop more humility and meekness in each of us and bind them to our hearts and minds (Mt. 18:18). Lord, direct our ways, clothe us with humility and make us to increase and abound in love towards one another and establish our hearts in holiness before You, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we ask, amen.
