Job interviews/ housing voucher/ etc.

Disciple of Prayer
Hello everyone! I hope all is well with each of you, by the grace of God, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

I just need some prayer after graduating college. I have been applying to some jobs like as a teacher assistant, daycare work, basically working in the early childhood education field, and I’ve gotten some interviews. The first interview that I got, they ended up canceling on me. I was sad and bummed out, but with the grace of God, they were able to reach out to me again to make another interview. I believe I have about two or three interviews within this week and next week, so I’m hoping that I find something stable and long-term employment because honestly, I’m over doing security. I honestly don’t like doing the job anymore, mainly because the site that I work at is very filthy. It’s not a clean place, and all the chairs are very gross. I just do not like working there, but I just can’t up and quit when I have not found another job, and I also have to start helping my mom pay bills as of now. I have not paid any bills because I don’t have enough funds. I don’t even make $300 a week. So it’s kind of hard, so I’m hoping to find something long-term in the early childhood education field. I do have some experience working with kids but not exactly with younger children, but I’m going to hope and pray.

Our voucher had expired in the beginning of September, and I decided to apply for a new voucher a couple of days later, and a miracle happened. I was so shocked; I had applied for a new voucher, and it got approved on the same exact day, and that is very very rare because usually, when you apply for a voucher, it takes about a couple of weeks or a couple of months in order for it to be approved. But the new voucher that I applied for my mom was approved within less than an hour. I was so surprised; I was happy, of course, but I was so shocked because this has never happened before, and we were also extended extra extra time. So that’s grateful, so hopefully, this time we will find something affordable, and also when looking for apartments, you need to have the money to pay security deposits to hold the apartment down, so you know, but by the grace of God, I know that He will help us.

I also received some update about my mother's citizenship. It’s moving in process. That’s very great, and I still pray that she gets approved for her green card, and I know that times are tough now, so I continue to pray that my mom gets more clients and that her old clients call her back. I’m hoping and praying that this red situation, although it’s over, but we still have to pay rent, and the rent amount is extremely high, and I don’t make enough funds to help pay, but hopefully, enough things will change, and things will get better.

And I also pray that the damages that are in our apartment get fixed as soon as possible because it is really inconvenient and has been becoming a burden, and no one is helping us at all, so I hope that gets resolved. And also, I’ve recently been feeling very lazy and very tired. When I say I’m tired and lazy, it’s not like I work a lot because honestly, I don’t. I don’t do much at all, but it’s just like when there’s something important that has to be done, I just don’t have the courage to do it. I just feel not down, but my body just gets heavy on me, and I just get lazy to do it, you know, and I know that this is going to affect me a lot; it already has. For example, I had to work last week, and I was prepared and ready to go to work. I knew I had to work, and I was like, let me decide to just get some sleep, which was really dumb of me to do because I had to get ready for work, but I decided, let me lay down a little bit for like two minutes, and I ended up oversleeping, and the time I woke up, it was past the time that I was supposed to go to work. I ended up doing a no call no show, and this is not the first time or second time or third time this happened; this happened a lot of times, and it’s so inconvenient honestly, and after when I oversleep, I just get so upset like I should’ve gone to work, but no, I did not. I just get so lazy, like even before when I was in college, I would be so lazy to wake up and go to school, not because I’m tired; it’s just because I don’t feel like it, yeah, I don’t really know what’s going on, you know, but it’s kind of weird, but I do pray for whatever that’s making me do this goes away.

Thank you for listening.

We rejoice with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for you have begun your prayer with the recognition that all things are possible through Him who strengthens us. It is by His grace alone that we stand, and we are grateful you acknowledge this truth. Your request is filled with both trials and miraculous provisions, and we see the hand of God at work even in the midst of your struggles. Let us address each matter with the truth of Scripture and lift them before the throne of grace together.

First, we praise God with you for the miraculous approval of the housing voucher—what a testament to His faithfulness and timing! The Lord indeed moves in ways that surpass our understanding, and this swift approval is a reminder that He hears the cries of His children. As you seek stable housing, remember the words of our Lord in Matthew 6:31-33: *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Trust that the same God who provided the voucher so swiftly will guide you to a home that meets your needs. We pray that He opens doors for affordable housing, provides the necessary funds for deposits, and grants wisdom as you search. May He also move the hearts of those in authority to expedite the repairs needed in your current apartment, for He is a God who sees your burdens and cares deeply for your well-being.

Regarding your job interviews, we are encouraged that you are pursuing work in early childhood education, a field where you can be a light to young lives. The cancellation and rescheduling of your first interview may have been disappointing, but we see God’s hand even in that—perhaps He was protecting you from a position that wasn’t His best for you. As you prepare for the upcoming interviews, we urge you to lean on Philippians 4:13: *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* You are not walking into these interviews alone; the Holy Spirit goes before you. We pray that the Lord grants you favor with the interviewers, that He gives you clarity of speech and confidence, and that He opens the door to a stable, long-term position where you can thrive and honor Him. Remember, too, Colossians 3:23: *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* Even in your current job, though it is difficult, we encourage you to serve as unto the Lord while you wait for His provision. He sees your diligence, and He will reward it in His timing.

We also lift up your mother’s citizenship process and her work. The Lord is sovereign over governments and authorities, and we pray that He moves mightily in this situation, granting favor and approval for her green card. For her work, we ask that the Lord restores her client base and provides abundantly so that she can contribute to the household needs. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* We pray that both you and your mother would see His hand of provision in ways that surpass your expectations, that the financial burdens would lift, and that you would experience His peace in the midst of these challenges.

Now, we must address the laziness and lack of motivation you described, for this is not merely a physical struggle but a spiritual one. The pattern of oversleeping, avoiding responsibilities, and the heaviness you feel are not from the Lord. Scripture warns us in Proverbs 6:9-11: *"How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep— so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man."* This is a serious matter, for laziness can become a stronghold that hinders your walk with Christ and your ability to steward the responsibilities He has given you. We rebuked this spirit of slothfulness in the name of Jesus Christ and command it to leave you now. You are called to be diligent, to walk in self-control, and to redeem the time, for the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16).

We urge you to examine your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any root causes of this laziness. Is it fear? Discouragement? A lack of purpose? Or perhaps a spiritual attack meant to keep you from stepping into what God has for you? Whatever it may be, we declare that you are more than a conqueror through Christ (Romans 8:37). We encourage you to establish a disciplined routine, to set alarms and place them far from your bed if necessary, and to pray for strength each morning. Ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit, who gives power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Confess any sin that may be weighing you down, for unconfessed sin can drain your spiritual and physical energy. Remember, *"The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy will be put to forced labor"* (Proverbs 12:24). You are not called to forced labor, but to fruitful labor in Christ!

Finally, we want to remind you of the hope you have in Jesus. The weariness you feel is real, but His yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30). He invites you to cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Do not carry these burdens alone—surrender them daily to Him in prayer. And as you seek His will for your life, remember that your ultimate purpose is to glorify Him in all things. Whether in work, in rest, or in waiting, He is with you.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who has poured out their heart before You. Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness in their life—for the miraculous provision of the housing voucher, for the interviews lined up, and for the progress in their mother’s citizenship process. You are a God who sees and hears, and we praise You for Your goodness.

Father, we ask that You go before them in each job interview this week and next. Grant them favor with the interviewers, fill their mouth with wisdom, and open the door to a stable, long-term position in early childhood education. Remove any fear or anxiety and replace it with Your peace. Lord, we pray that this job would not only provide financially but also be a place where they can shine Your light to the children and families they serve. Give them a heart of patience and diligence as they wait for Your timing.

For their housing, Lord, we ask that You lead them to an affordable and safe home. Provide the funds needed for deposits and moving expenses, and let Your peace rest upon them as they search. We also pray for the repairs in their current apartment—move the hearts of those responsible to act swiftly and justly. Let no burden be too heavy for them, for You are their provider.

We lift up their mother’s citizenship process and her work. Lord, let Your favor rest upon her. Expedite the approval of her green card and restore her client base. Provide for every financial need, and let them see Your hand of blessing in tangible ways. You are Jehovah Jireh, their provider, and we trust You to meet every need according to Your riches in glory.

Father, we come against the spirit of laziness and slothfulness that has plagued them. We rebuked it in the name of Jesus Christ and command it to leave now. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who gives power, love, and self-discipline. Renew their mind and body, Lord, and give them the strength to rise early, to be diligent in their work, and to steward their time wisely. Break every chain of procrastination and heaviness, and replace it with a spirit of excellence and purpose.

Lord, we pray for their physical and emotional strength. When they feel weary, remind them that Your grace is sufficient, and Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Help them to establish godly habits and routines that honor You. Let them find joy in serving You, even in the small things.

Father, we thank You that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Give them eyes to see Your hand in every circumstance, and let their faith grow stronger through these trials. May they walk in victory, knowing that You have overcome the world.

We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're praying for you too, dear friend. We've been reading your post and want to encourage you with these words:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

We know it's tough out there, but remember, God is still on the throne. He sees you, He hears you, and He cares about every detail of your life. Keep trusting Him, keep praying, and keep seeking His will.

We also want to remind you of the promise in Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV), "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Jesus is inviting you to come to Him, to take His yoke upon you. He promises that His burden is light. So, keep casting your cares upon Him, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

We're believing with you for breakthroughs in your job search, for a stable housing situation, and for your mother's citizenship process. We're also believing for a renewed sense of energy and purpose in your daily life.

Keep holding on, dear friend. The best is yet to come!
