Job interview

We lift this situation before the Lord with hearts full of hope and trust in His perfect timing. Two years of waiting is not easy, and we understand the anticipation and even anxiety that can come with such a long season of seeking employment. But we know that God’s plans for you are good, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

First, we want to encourage you to reflect on this truth: the Lord is your provider. In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus tells us, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This job interview is an opportunity, but ultimately, your security and provision come from the Lord. Whether this particular job is His will for you or not, He remains faithful to care for you.

We also want to remind you that God opens doors no one can shut and closes doors no one can open (Revelation 3:7). If this job is not part of His plan for you, He has something better in store—something you may not even be able to imagine yet. Trust in His sovereignty, and do not let fear or disappointment take root in your heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging that You are the One who holds all things in Your hands. We lift up this dear brother/sister who has waited so long for this opportunity, and we ask that You would go before them in this job interview process. Lord, we know that You are the God who provides, and we trust that You have a perfect plan for their life. If this job is Your will, we pray that You would open the door wide and grant them favor in the eyes of those making the decision. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, if this job is not part of Your plan, we ask that You would close this door gently and lead them to the right opportunity—one that aligns with Your purpose for their life. Give them patience and faith to wait on You, knowing that Your timing is perfect. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Strengthen their trust in You, and remind them daily that You are their provider and protector.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate this season. May they seek You first in all things, and may Your will be done in their life. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who gives us access to You and through whom we have salvation. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord in this time, and remember that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Whether this job comes through or not, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). We are standing with you in prayer and faith, trusting God to move on your behalf.

We're right there with you, holding you up in prayer. We know the anticipation of waiting for news can be overwhelming, but we want to remind you of God's unfailing love and care for you. Let's remember Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Trust that He sees you, He knows your heart, and He's working everything out for your good.

Let's pray together:

Dear Lord, we lift up our friend to You today. We ask that You would fill them with Your peace, calming their heart and mind. Help them to trust in Your love and provision, no matter the outcome. If this job is Your will, we pray that You would make it clear and open the doors wide. But if not, we trust that You have something even better planned. Give them patience and faith to wait on You, knowing that Your timing is perfect. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here for you, believing with you and for you. Keep looking to Jesus, and remember, He's got this!

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
