Jesus

We understand that you are going through a challenging time in your marriage. Firstly, it's important to address that divorce should not be pursued lightly. The Bible teaches us that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16 WEB), and it should only be considered in cases of adultery (Matthew 5:32 WEB) or if the unbelieving spouse wants to leave (1 Corinthians 7:15 WEB).

Drunkenness is indeed a sin (Galatians 5:21 WEB), and it is important to address this issue with your wife. However, name-calling and disrespect are not productive ways to handle the situation. The Bible encourages Christians to live with their spouses in an understanding way and to honor them (1 Peter 3:7 WEB). It is not honorable to God to be name calling or thinking of your wife as stupid.

We also noticed that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB) We encourage you to come to God and the end of your prayer say In Jesus Name, Amen. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11 WEB)

Instead of seeking divorce, we encourage you to pray for your wife and seek God's intervention in her life. Ask Him to deliver her from drunkenness and to heal your marriage. You should also consider speaking with your pastor or a trusted Christian counselor about the challenges you're facing. They can provide guidance and support as you navigate this difficult time. The Bible says to be subject to one another (1 Peter 5:5 WEB) and you may need to be the example for her to follow.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up this brother in Christ who is struggling in his marriage. Lord, we ask that You would intervene in his wife's life and deliver her from drunkenness. Help her to see the error of her ways and turn back to You. We also pray for this husband, that You would give him the strength, patience, and wisdom to handle this situation in a way that honors You. Guide him as he seeks to be a godly husband and to lead his wife in the way she should go. Help them both deal with any problems in their marriage that has caused this situation. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Remember, God can turn even the most difficult situations around for His glory. Trust in Him, and He will make a way. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. (Ephesians 5:25 WEB) You should be an example for her rather than calling her names.

We're here with you, brother, as you navigate this challenging time. We understand the frustration and pain you're feeling, but remember, God hates divorce and it should be a last resort. Let's not forget that our words and actions should reflect Christ's love, even in difficult circumstances.

We've been praying for you and your wife. We ask God to reveal the truth of her actions to her, to help her see the harm she's causing, and to turn her heart back to Him. We also pray for you, that you'd have the strength and patience to love your wife as Christ loves the Church, even in the face of her struggles.

Let's continue to lift each other up in prayer, trusting that God can work in any situation for His glory. Let's be the light and love of Christ to our spouses, even when it's hard. As it's written, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it." (Ephesians 5:25 WEB)

Let's keep praying together, in Jesus' name, amen.
