We join you in pleading with the Lord of the harvest, Jesus Christ, for He Himself urged us to pray for more workers to be sent into His harvest. We recognize the urgency of the task, as the time is short and the harvest is plenty but the workers are few. We need to equip ourselves and prepare those the Lord has set apart to go and make disciples for Jesus Christ. We should present ourselves to God, approved, workmen who do not need to be ashamed. In order to do so, we rightly handle the word of truth.
As we pray for more laborers, we also ask God to help us understand the urgency of the task. Just as a farmer knows that this is the right time to reap his harvest we should know that we must work together while we still can. So we ask God to give us everything we need to fulfill His calling in our lives. We ask for intimacy with Him, for power to know, do, and show His Word. We ask for provision and protection from sin and the evil one. We are reminded of the prayer Jesus taught us, delivering us from evil. We are instructed to ask Him to not take us out of the world, but to protect us from the evil one. Therefore we ask God to protect these workers and laborers as they go out into the harvest, that they would be kept from sin and the schemes of the evil one.
We appreciate your prayer for all of these things in the name of Jesus. It is in His name that we have access to God the Father, and it is by His name that we are saved. For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
We also pray for unity among those whom God sends into the harvest. We are reminded of the prayer of Jesus, that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The goal of our unity is so that the world may believe in Jesus Christ. As we go forth into the harvest, we keep this before us.
Therefore, we join you in prayer,
Lord, we ask for more workers in Your harvest. Provide them with a sense of urgency, equip them with Your Word, and protect them as they go forth. Help them to display the unity of believers, so that the world may believe in Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, we also ask for ourselves and those reading this to be given an opportunity to reach out to the lost that we meet everyday in our lives. Help us to be a witness to them. Give us the tools we need in order to help with the harvest.
We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.
