2nd day of Lent. I kinda want to quit fasting because I'm bored. I had thoughts about getting a job, but I need a new state ID. My mom seems to be avoiding the discussion of me to get the state ID because I would join the army. The problem with joining the army is that I don't know how to drive. I have completed 1/2 of the driver's license test study by writing the questions and answers. I am in Providence with my parents. I'm 27 and think I'm a man-child because I'm unemployed and don't drive. I am in need of composition books to write in. Jesus, please help my mom from her car crash trauma; her decisions and behaviors became strange after her car crash. If I continue my fast, then I could reach my target weight of 155, where I would not be labeled as obese for my height. I guess I should keep on fasting in order to reduce my weight for exercise. Without a new state ID, I can't apply to jobs and I can't join the military. I believe I gotta join the military in order to have a future because I am not disciplined in study and I'm weak and overweight. I'm not receiving any pay either, and I gave my money away after reading the holy bible. I really should have held onto the money, but I betrayed myself after reading the prayers and bible with a fear of prayer. I am rather demotivated to live. I have medication that treats bipolar, schizophrenia, and autism. I'm afraid that it's hindering my overall enjoyment. I have antidepressants, so it's okay, but without adderall I don't feel as much pleasure and enjoyment from masturbation. I'm really hoping the LORD would prescribe me the adderall again to help me masturbate, study, or work. I have read so much of the bible and prayer books that I'm bored with it. There's providence, but I don't really have control over my life. Even as I type out this message, I rely on autocorrect. I kinda want to eat for enjoyment because I'm bored. I don't like having the bare minimum. I was hoping to exercise in order to build muscle, but i guess my gains would be slower because I don't have control over my protein intake, and I can't go to the gym, I can rely on calisthenics and some dumbbells. My prayer request is for home gym equipment such as a barbell and dumbbells. Without friends and connections, I don't really have much interest. I don't know how to acquire connections for trades works. I'm afraid to be a dishwasher or cleaner in a minimum wage job. I was hoping for a job in fastfood that I could walk to but I don't know how to use a cash register, and speaking to people kinda disturbs me. I really need help Thanks, Jesus, for peace, providence, and progress in Jesus' name, Amen.

We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace with you, lifting every burden to the Lord. You are not alone in this struggle, and we stand with you in prayer, seeking God’s wisdom, strength, and provision for every area of your life.

First, we want to affirm your desire to draw near to God through fasting during Lent. This is a holy and honorable discipline, one that the Lord honors when done with a sincere heart. However, fasting is not meant to be a burden but a time of drawing closer to God, seeking His face, and allowing Him to renew your mind and spirit. If boredom or discouragement is weighing on you, we encourage you to refocus your heart on the purpose of this season. Jesus Himself fasted and prayed, not out of obligation, but out of communion with the Father. Let this time be one of listening to God’s voice rather than simply enduring the absence of food. *"But he answered, ‘It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”’* (Matthew 4:4 WEB). If the fast feels too heavy, it is okay to adjust it in a way that still honors God—perhaps by fasting from media, entertainment, or other distractions to create space for prayer and Scripture.

We also lift up your struggle with discipline, employment, and independence. It is clear that you feel trapped in a cycle of frustration, and we want to gently but firmly rebuke the spirit of despair that tells you that you are a "man-child" or that your life lacks purpose. God does not see you that way. He sees you as His beloved child, created with gifts, talents, and a unique calling. *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you," says Yahweh, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). The enemy would love for you to believe that you are stuck, but God is a God of breakthrough and transformation.

Your desire to join the military is understandable—it is a path that many take to gain structure, discipline, and purpose. However, we must caution you against seeing the military (or any earthly institution) as the sole source of your future. Your identity and worth are found in Christ alone, not in a job, a uniform, or the approval of others. That said, if the Lord is leading you in this direction, we pray for His provision and favor as you take steps toward obtaining your state ID and exploring your options. We also encourage you to seek godly counsel—perhaps from a pastor, mentor, or trusted Christian brother—who can help you discern whether this is the right path for you. *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."* (Proverbs 15:22 WEB).

We must address the matter of your medication and the struggles you’ve shared regarding pleasure, focus, and mental health. While we understand that medication can be a tool that God uses to bring stability, we urge you to bring these desires before the Lord with honesty and humility. The Bible warns us about seeking fulfillment in anything other than God Himself. *"You shall have no other gods before me."* (Exodus 20:3 WEB). This includes the pursuit of pleasure, whether through medication, masturbation, or other means. These things may provide temporary relief, but they will never satisfy the deep longing of your soul. We rebuke the lie that you need Adderall or any other substance to feel joy, focus, or purpose. True joy comes from the Holy Spirit, and true focus comes from aligning your heart with God’s will. *"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."* (Galatians 5:22-23 WEB). We encourage you to seek God’s face about these dependencies and ask Him to fill you with His Spirit in a way that brings lasting freedom.

Your struggle with weight, exercise, and self-discipline is also something we lift up to the Lord. It is good to desire health and strength, but we must be careful not to tie our worth to our physical appearance or abilities. God looks at the heart, not the outward man. *"For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart."* (1 Samuel 16:7 WEB). That said, we pray for God’s strength to help you persevere in your fast and in building healthy habits. We also pray for provision of the home gym equipment you’ve requested, that it would be a tool for you to grow stronger in body and spirit. *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* (Philippians 4:13 WEB).

We also want to address your feelings of isolation and lack of connection. It is difficult to feel alone, especially when you long for friendship, mentorship, or even just the opportunity to serve in a job. But we want to remind you that God has not abandoned you. He is your closest friend, your ever-present help in times of trouble. *"Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth."* (Psalm 145:18 WEB). We encourage you to seek out a local church or Christian community where you can build relationships with other believers. This may feel intimidating, especially if social interactions are challenging for you, but God can use even small steps of faith to open doors. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor."* (Ecclesiastes 4:9 WEB). We also pray for divine connections—people who can come alongside you, encourage you, and help you grow in your faith and in practical areas of life.

Your mother’s trauma and the strain in your relationship with her is another heavy burden we lift up. It is clear that her car accident has deeply affected her, and in turn, it has affected you. We pray for healing for her—both physically and emotionally—and for God’s peace to guard her heart and mind. We also pray for wisdom for you as you navigate this relationship. It is understandable that you feel frustrated, but we encourage you to respond with patience and grace, even when it is difficult. *"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."* (Proverbs 15:1 WEB). We also pray that God would give you opportunities to gently and lovingly communicate your needs to her, trusting that He can soften her heart.

Lastly, we want to address the spiritual warfare that is clearly at work in your life. The enemy would love for you to remain in a place of discouragement, boredom, and self-loathing. But we declare that you are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. We rebuke every spirit of despair, laziness, and addiction that seeks to keep you bound. We declare that God has a plan for you—a plan for hope, for purpose, and for joy. *"The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly."* (John 10:10 WEB).

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our brother. We thank You that You see him, You know him, and You love him deeply. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of discouragement, fear, and self-doubt that has taken hold of his heart. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and remind him that his worth is found in You alone.

Father, we lift up his desire to fast and draw closer to You. Renew his spirit during this Lenten season. Help him to see this time not as a burden, but as an opportunity to seek Your face and hear Your voice. Give him the strength to persevere, and let this fast be a time of spiritual breakthrough and renewal.

Lord, we ask for Your provision in every area of his life. Provide the resources he needs to obtain his state ID, to explore employment opportunities, and to grow in discipline and health. Open doors that no man can shut, and give him favor with those who can help him move forward. We pray for the home gym equipment he has requested—provide it in Your perfect timing, and let it be a tool for him to grow stronger in body and spirit.

Father, we also pray for healing in his mind and emotions. We rebuke every spirit of despair, addiction, and mental anguish that seeks to torment him. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and let Your joy be his strength. Help him to find his satisfaction in You alone, and to resist the temptation to seek fulfillment in temporary pleasures.

Lord, we lift up his relationship with his mother. Bring healing to her heart and mind, and restore peace to their home. Give our brother wisdom and patience as he navigates this relationship, and help him to communicate with love and grace.

Finally, Father, we pray for divine connections in his life. Surround him with godly friends, mentors, and opportunities to serve. Let him experience the joy of community and the fulfillment of walking in Your purpose for his life.

We declare that You are making all things new in his life. You are breaking every chain, opening every door, and leading him into a future filled with hope. We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Your desire for a new state ID is understandable, but driving is a concern. Let's ask God for wisdom and provision in this area. Perhaps there are public transportation options or carpooling opportunities that could work for you. We also encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor, mentor, or trusted Christian brother to help you discern whether this is the right path for you.
