We understand that you're going through a difficult time, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth. First, we want to acknowledge your courage in reaching out and asking for help. We are going to pray together with you about this.
First, let's remember that all of us sin and fall short of the glory of God. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. He is our only way to forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. Therefore, we want to remind you to always pray to God the Father in Jesus.
Also, it is important to remember forgiveness is available to us because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. If you struggle with alcoholism, the first step is to confess your struggle to God and sincere repentance. Turn from the desire to drink. As you have done. Now you must submit to God and resist the devil.
Please, let us not be tempted to desire the things of the world. The love of the world is just the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our fellow brother in Christ who is struggling with alcoholism and feelings of despair. Lord, we confess that none of us are immune to temptation, but we have hope because we are forgiven through Jesus. We are all sinners before him waiting forgiveness. We are new every morning. His mercies renew every morning. He never fails. So, we can come to him just as we are with our problems. He forgives us just as we are. We are all sinners. We also know that you are always faithful to forgive and restore those who come to you with a repentant heart.
Lord, we ask that you strengthen our brother and give him the power to overcome his addiction. Help him renew his mind each day. Please, give him the power to overcome all temptation. Help him to trust you in Jesus. Give him the courage to seek help from fellow believers and professionals who can support him in his journey to sobriety. Help him to cry out to you instead of using alcohol to cope with his problems. We ask you to heal his heart and mind. Once he no longer wants to drink, we know that you will replace the sorrow in his heart with the peace that can only come from you.
Help us to be compassionate and understanding of others. We ask you to forgive us for when we do not. Help us to discern when someone needs encouragement and when they need rebuke. And we are helping him in Jesus because you have helped us.
Heavenly Father, we also pray for his protection and guidance. Surround him with your angels and keep him safe. Keep him in the center of your will. Help him to seek you when he is feeling overwhelmed. Help him to seek your word to know what you want him to do. Give him the courage to go where you want him to go and the courage and power to do your will when he gets there. Give him the courage to say what you want him to say. We also ask that you provide him with godly friends and mentors who can support him as we are supporting him in Jesus.
Father, we ask that you fill him with your Holy Spirit and guide him in all truth. Help him to know your will for his life and the truth of your word. We ask that your word will go out and come back void as we pray together for our brother and speak to his situation. If he does not know what your will is in his situation, we ask that you reveal it to him. We are praying and believing that you will heal him and help him to overcome completely in Jesus. He is your creation, and we are praying for him in Jesus.
Lord, we also pray for his family and loved ones. Give them the wisdom and grace to support him in this journey. Help them to know how to help him. Help them to show him compassion and love. Help them to encourage him and offer him godly advice. Help them to be patient with him. We also ask that you protect them from the enemy's attacks and keep them safe. We ask that you provide them with your peace and comfort. We ask that you help them to trust you and to know that you are in control.
Finally, Lord, we declare that our brother is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him. We declare that he is forgiven, redeemed, and set free from the bondage of alcoholism. We declare that he is a new creation in Christ, and that he is renewed in the knowledge according to the image of his Creator. We declare that he is strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. We declare that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him. We declare that he is a child of God, and that he is seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. We declare that he is a joint heir with Christ, and that he is a partaker of the divine nature. We declare that he is a king and a priest unto God, and that he will reign with Christ forever and ever.
We declare these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Praise God for his goodness and mercy. Let us encourage our brother to trust in the Lord with all his heart and lean not on his own understanding. In all his ways let him acknowledge God, and God will make his paths straight. He will overcome this struggle with alcoholism, and he will be a testimony to others of God's faithfulness and power.
We encourage him to seek godly counsel and support from his local church and other believers. We encourage him to be open and honest about his struggles and to allow others to help him. We encourage him to be accountable to someone who can help him stay on the path of sobriety. We encourage him to be in the word of God daily and to pray without ceasing. We encourage him to be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that his labor is not in vain in the Lord.
We encourage him to remember that God is faithful, and he will not allow him to be tempted beyond what he is able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that he may be able to bear it. We encourage him to put on the whole armor of God, that he may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. We encourage him to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. We encourage him to take up the whole armor of God, that he may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
We encourage him to stand therefore, having his waist girded with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having his feet fitted with the readiness of the Good News of peace. Above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which he will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
We encourage him to be sober and self-controlled. We encourage him to be watchful. We encourage him to be strong. We encourage him to let his light shine before men, that they may see his good works and glorify his Father who is in heaven.
We encourage him to be blessed. We encourage him to be a blessing. We encourage him to be a blessing to others. We encourage him to be a blessing to his family. We encourage him to be a blessing to his friends. We encourage him to be a blessing to his community. We encourage him to be a blessing to his church. We encourage him to be a blessing to the world.
We encourage him to be a blessing to God. We encourage him to be a blessing to Jesus. We encourage him to be a blessing to the Holy Spirit. We encourage him to be a blessing to the Father. We encourage him to be a blessing to the Son. We encourage him to be a blessing to the Holy Spirit.
We encourage him to be a blessing to the angels. We encourage him to be a blessing to the saints. We encourage him to be a blessing to the prophets. We encourage him to be a blessing to the apostles. We encourage him to be a blessing to the evangelists. We encourage him to be a blessing to the pastors. We encourage him to be a blessing to the teachers.
We encourage him to be a blessing to the world. We encourage him to be a blessing to the universe. We encourage him to be a blessing to all creation. We encourage him to be a blessing to all things. We encourage him to be a blessing to all people. We encourage him to be a blessing to all nations. We encourage him to be a blessing to all tribes. We encourage him to be a blessing to all tongues. We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds. We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds of people. We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds of nations. We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds of tribes. We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds of tongues. We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds of kinds.
We encourage him to be a blessing to all kinds of all things. We encourage him to be a blessing.
