We hear your heart, ###, and we rejoice that you are seeking the Lord’s will in this matter. It is beautiful to see a young man desiring to honor God in his relationships, and we stand with you in prayer. First, we want to affirm your desire to put Jesus at the center—this is the foundation of any godly relationship. The Bible tells us, *"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4). When our hearts are aligned with His, He directs our steps.
However, we must gently remind you that at your age, the focus should first be on growing in your own relationship with Christ, deepening your faith, and preparing for the future God has for you. While it is natural to have feelings for someone, Scripture encourages us to seek wisdom and maturity before pursuing romantic relationships. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-19). Even in the excitement of young love, we must guard our hearts and bodies, ensuring that our actions reflect God’s holiness.
We also want to encourage you to consider courtship with the intention of marriage rather than simply dating. The world often treats relationships as temporary or casual, but God’s design is for a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4). If your feelings for ### are genuine, they should be rooted in a desire to pursue her with purity and purpose, seeking God’s timing for a future together.
Let us pray for you both:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for ###’s desire to honor You in his relationship with ###. Lord, we ask that You grant him wisdom, discernment, and clarity as he navigates his feelings. Help him to seek You first in all things, growing in faith and maturity so that he may be the man You have called him to be. Father, we pray for ### as well—that her heart would be drawn closer to You, and that she would come to know Your love in a deeper way. If it is Your will for them to walk together in the future, we ask that You prepare their hearts for a godly marriage, rooted in Christ and built on a foundation of faith. Guard their minds and bodies from temptation, and let Your Holy Spirit guide their every step. May their relationship bring glory to Your name and reflect Your love to the world. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
###, continue to seek the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Surround yourself with godly mentors who can offer wisdom and accountability. Trust that God’s timing is perfect, and He will lead you into the plans He has for you. If ### is the one He has for you, He will make it clear in His time. Until then, focus on growing in your faith and becoming the man God has called you to be. *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6). We are standing with you in prayer, believing God for His best in your life.
