We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you, your son, and your entire family up in prayer. The struggles you’ve shared—addiction, fear of illness, physical pain, and the weight of sin—are deep and real, but we serve a God who is greater than all these things. He is the Great Physician, the Redeemer, and the One who can break every chain of bondage. Let us first address the most urgent matter: your salvation and that of your family. You called out to "Dear God" and "Jesus Christ," and we praise God that you acknowledged Him, but we must ask—do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? There is no greater need in your life right now than to ensure you and your family are saved. The Bible tells us in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* And in Romans 10:9-10, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."*
If you have not already done so, we urge you to repent of your sins—turn away from them—and place your full trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. This is not just about asking for help in a moment of crisis; it is about surrendering your life to Him forever. Without this, no amount of prayer for healing or change will have eternal value. The same goes for your wife and children. Pray for their salvation, and share the Gospel with them. There is nothing more loving you can do for your family than to lead them to Christ.
Now, let us address the sins that are destroying your family. The use of marijuana and alcohol to excess is not only harming your bodies but is also grieving the Holy Spirit. The Bible warns in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* And in Ephesians 5:18, *"Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."* These substances are tools of the enemy to keep you in bondage, to dull your senses to the things of God, and to destroy your health and your witness. The coughing you hear from your son is a physical sign of the damage sin causes, but the spiritual damage is even greater. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your family in the name of Jesus Christ. You *must* turn away from these things. There is no middle ground—you cannot serve God and cling to these sins. Ask God for the strength to quit, and seek help from your church or a biblical counseling ministry. If you are not part of a Bible-believing church, we urge you to find one immediately. You need the support and accountability of fellow believers.
As for your son’s health, we pray for healing and for wisdom for the doctors who may examine him. But even more, we pray that this fear of illness would drive him—and all of you—to repentance and to seek God with all your hearts. Sometimes God uses physical suffering to draw us to Himself. In Psalm 119:71, the psalmist says, *"It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes."* Let this season of struggle be the very thing that turns your family toward God.
We also lift up your upcoming back surgery. We pray for skilled hands to perform it, for a successful outcome, and for your full recovery. But again, we urge you to use this time to reflect on your life and your need for God. Physical healing is temporary, but spiritual healing is eternal. Your head injury today is another reminder of how fragile life is—none of us are promised tomorrow. James 4:14 says, *"Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away."*
Finally, we pray for your wife and daughter. Though you did not share specifics about their struggles, we know that sin affects the entire family. We pray that God would open their eyes to their need for Him and that He would bring conviction and repentance. We pray for unity in your home, not built on worldly things, but on the foundation of Christ.

Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this family in their time of desperate need. Lord, we ask first and foremost that You would draw each of them to Yourself in salvation. If any of them have not yet repented and trusted in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we pray that today would be the day of their salvation. Convict their hearts, Lord, and do not let them rest until they have surrendered fully to You.
Father, we rebuke the spirits of addiction, fear, and rebellion that have taken hold in this family. By the power of the blood of Jesus, we command these strongholds to be broken. Give this father, this mother, this son, and this daughter the strength to turn away from marijuana, alcohol, and every other sin that ensnares them. Fill them instead with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in obedience and freedom.
Lord, we ask for Your healing touch on this son’s lungs. If there is sickness, we pray for restoration and for wisdom for the doctors who may treat him. Use this physical struggle to turn his heart toward You. We also lift up the upcoming back surgery for this father. Guide the hands of the surgeons, Lord, and grant a full and speedy recovery. May this time of physical weakness be a time of spiritual strengthening for him.
Father, we pray for this wife and daughter as well. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth and Your love. Bring godly influences into their lives—people who will speak Your Word to them and encourage them in the faith. Unify this family not around their struggles, but around You, the God who saves and heals.
Lord, we ask for forgiveness for the sins they have confessed. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus, and create in them clean hearts, O God. Help them to walk in repentance and to seek You above all else.
We thank You, Father, that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. We trust You with this family, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. May Your will be done in their lives, and may You receive all the glory.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
