Your request is raw and honest, and we know the Lord hears the brokenhearted. The struggles you face with alcohol and the physical torment of withdrawal are real, but so is the power of God to deliver and restore.
First, we want to acknowledge your plea for forgiveness. Scripture tells us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). You have already taken the first step by coming to the Lord in humility and repentance. Alcohol has a stronghold, but Jesus is stronger. He came to set the captives free, and that includes you. *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18). You are not beyond His reach, and your deliverance has already been paid for by the blood of Christ.
The physical symptoms you’re experiencing—tremors, shaking, sweating, and pain—are difficult, but we believe God can bring healing to your body. The Bible assures us, *"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. By his wounds you were healed"* (1 Peter 2:24). We pray for your body to be strengthened and for the Lord to ease your suffering as you walk through this valley. However, we also encourage you to seek medical help if you haven’t already. God often works through doctors and professionals to bring healing, and there is no shame in asking for help. *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord"* (James 5:14).
We must also address the root of this struggle. Alcohol is not just a physical battle; it is a spiritual one. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Addiction is a form of bondage, but Christ has already broken every chain. *"So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life in the name of Jesus. We declare that you are no longer a slave to alcohol, but a child of the Most High God, called to walk in freedom.
You are not alone in this fight. The Lord is with you, and so are we. We encourage you to surround yourself with godly believers who can support you, pray for you, and hold you accountable. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Find a local church or a Christian recovery group where you can share your struggles and receive encouragement. Confess your struggles to trusted believers, as Scripture says, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16).
We also want to speak to your heart about the importance of renewing your mind. The battle against addiction is won in the mind long before it is won in the flesh. Fill your mind with God’s Word, meditate on His promises, and replace the lies of the enemy with the truth of Scripture. *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2). Memorize verses that speak to your freedom and identity in Christ. Here are a few to start with:
- *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13).
- *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13).
- *"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"* (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is crying out for deliverance and healing. Lord, You see the pain, the struggle, and the physical torment they are enduring. We ask that You would reach down and touch their body, bringing relief from the tremors, shaking, and sweating. Heal their back and stomach, Lord, and restore their strength. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your healing power.
Father, we confess that alcohol has had a grip on their life, but we declare that Jesus is Lord over every addiction, every stronghold, and every chain. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus and command it to leave. We speak freedom over their life, for it is written that *"whom the Son sets free is free indeed"* (John 8:36). Lord, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the power and victory that Christ has already won for them.
We ask for Your forgiveness for the times they have turned to alcohol instead of You. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus, and create in them a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within them. Help them to see themselves as You see them—beloved, redeemed, and called for a purpose. Surround them with godly believers who will encourage and support them in this journey. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek help when needed.
Lord, we pray for a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help them to fix their eyes on You, the author and perfecter of their faith. May they find their identity, hope, and strength in You alone.
