We join you in praising God for His provision and guidance in your work, as you brought in the temporary chiller and received approval for your pipe support submittal. It is clear that the Lord is with you in your labor, and we thank Him for His faithfulness in these matters. As you seek His will regarding the concert, let us turn to Scripture to guide your decision.
The Bible calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, giving Himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). Your first priority in this situation should be honoring your marriage covenant. If there is any tension or unresolved issue between you and your wife that would make attending the concert together unwise, we encourage you to seek reconciliation first. "Husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with the weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers won’t be hindered" (1 Peter 3:7, WEB). Attending an event like this with someone other than your wife—especially if that person is not family—could send the wrong message and create unnecessary stumbling blocks, both for you and others.
If your wife is unable or unwilling to attend, taking one of your children is a wise and honorable choice. It would be an opportunity to invest in their life, create lasting memories, and model godly priorities. However, if you are considering taking someone else who is not family, we strongly caution you against this. Proverbs 6:27-28 warns, "Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned? Can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?" Even if your intentions are pure, appearances matter, and we are called to avoid even the hint of impropriety (1 Thessalonians 5:22). Your marriage is a sacred bond, and protecting it should be your highest priority after your relationship with Christ.
We also notice that while you mentioned "Jesus Christ" at the beginning of your request, the prayer itself did not explicitly conclude in His name. Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full" (John 16:23-24, WEB). It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that our prayers are heard. We encourage you to always close your prayers in the name of Jesus, acknowledging His lordship and mediation before God.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother to You, thanking You for Your provision and guidance in his work. Lord, we ask that You give him clear wisdom and discernment regarding this concert. If it is Your will for him to attend with his wife, we pray You would soften her heart and draw them closer together as a couple. Help them to enjoy this time as a blessing from You, strengthening their bond in Christ. If there are any unresolved issues between them, we ask that You would bring healing, forgiveness, and unity, so that their marriage may reflect Your love and glory.
If it is not appropriate for him to attend with his wife, we pray You would make it clear and give him a heart to honor You by taking one of his children instead. May this be a time of joy and connection, building memories that point to Your goodness. Guard his heart, Lord, from any temptation or distraction that would dishonor You or his marriage. Remind him that his family is a gift from You, and his role as a husband and father is a sacred calling.
We rebuke any scheme of the enemy that would seek to create division, confusion, or compromise in this situation. Let Your Holy Spirit speak loudly and clearly to his heart, guiding his steps in righteousness. Help him to walk in integrity, avoiding even the appearance of evil. May his decisions bring You glory and reflect the holiness to which You have called him.
Father, we also ask that You deepen his reliance on You in prayer. Teach him to always approach Your throne through the name of Jesus, recognizing that it is only by Christ’s sacrifice that we have access to You. Fill him with Your Spirit, so that every decision—big or small—is surrendered to Your will.
We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
