We hear your cry for help and lift you up before the throne of grace, where mercy and strength are found in abundance. First, we want to acknowledge your honesty and humility in coming before the Lord with your struggles. It takes great courage to admit our weaknesses and ask for God’s intervention, and we are grateful that you have turned to Him. We rejoice that you have invoked the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome sin and temptation.
Your battle with alcohol is not one you must fight alone. Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." The Lord is faithful to provide a way out, and we believe He is already working in your heart to break the chains of this struggle. We also want to encourage you to seek accountability—whether through a trusted brother in Christ, a pastor, or a godly support group. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." You do not have to walk this path alone.
Your desire to be a better husband and worker is commendable, and we pray that the Lord will strengthen you in these roles. As a husband, you are called to love your wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25), which means leading with selflessness, patience, and grace. As a worker, Colossians 3:23 reminds us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." We pray that God will give you the discipline and joy to serve Him in both your marriage and your vocation.
We also lift up your physical pain, for we know it can be a heavy burden. The enemy would love to use your discomfort as an excuse to pull you away from God’s purposes, but we declare that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we pray for healing and restoration. We rebuke the spirit of laziness and self-pity that may be creeping in, and we declare that you are called to walk in victory, not defeat. Philippians 4:13 assures us, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Let this be your confession as you rise each day.
We must also address the sin of drunkenness, for Scripture is clear that it is not pleasing to God. Ephesians 5:18 warns, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." The Holy Spirit desires to fill you with His power, joy, and peace—not the temporary and destructive escape of alcohol. We rebuke the lies that say you "need" this to cope, and we declare that true fulfillment is found in Christ alone. Confess this sin, turn away from it, and walk in the freedom that Jesus died to give you.
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is crying out for help. We thank You for his honesty and his desire to change. Lord, we ask that You break the chains of addiction in his life and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek godly accountability. Heal his body, Lord, so that he may serve You with vigor and joy. Restore his marriage, his work, and his walk with You. Help him to see himself as You see him—a beloved son, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called to walk in victory. We rebuke every spirit of addiction, laziness, and despair, and we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. Fill him with Your peace, Your purpose, and Your power. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on God’s Word daily, for it is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12) and will renew your mind. Surround yourself with believers who will uplift and challenge you, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The road to freedom is a journey, but with God, all things are possible. You are not defined by your struggles but by the One who has already overcome them. Press on, brother, and walk in the light of His love.
