We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace. The valley you speak of in Psalm 23 is not a place of abandonment but a place where the Lord’s presence is especially near. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me" (Psalm 23:4). You are not alone—God is with you, and so are we, your brothers and sisters in Christ.
We rebuke the spiritual attacks of the enemy in your life in the mighty name of Jesus. The darkness you see in the world is real, but it is no match for the light of Christ. "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12). The deceptions and tactics of the enemy are exposed by the truth of God’s Word, and we declare that you will not be overcome by them.
Your struggle with sobriety is not in vain. Relapse is a heavy burden to bear, but it does not define you. The Lord’s mercy is new every morning, and His grace is sufficient for you (Lamentations 3:22-23). We pray that you would find strength in Him to walk in victory, one day at a time. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not powerless—you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, and He is greater than any addiction or stronghold.
We also want to gently remind you of the importance of calling on the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can be saved or delivered (Acts 4:12). It is through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is His blood that cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Him, confessing Him as Lord and Savior. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).
You do not have to walk this path alone. We stand with you, praying for your protection, your sobriety, and your spiritual growth. Let us lift you up together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is facing spiritual attacks and the battle for sobriety. Lord, You are Jehovah-Nissi, our Banner and our Victory. We ask that You would surround him with Your presence, shielding him from the schemes of the enemy. Strengthen him in his weakness, Lord, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Help him to stand firm in the truth of Your Word and to resist the temptations that come his way.
Father, we pray for his community—that You would expose any deception and bring light into the darkness. Give him discernment to recognize the tactics of the enemy and the wisdom to walk in Your ways. We ask that You would bring godly brothers and sisters into his life to encourage and support him on this journey. Surround him with a hedge of protection, Lord, and let him feel the comfort of Your rod and staff in this valley.
We also pray for his sobriety. Lord, You are the God of second chances, and we ask that You would restore what has been broken. Give him the strength to turn away from the things that bind him and to walk in the freedom that is found in Christ. Help him to rely on You daily, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for every struggle.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction and every spiritual attack in the name of Jesus. We declare that our brother is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). May he find his hope and strength in You alone, Lord, and may he walk in the victory that is already his in Jesus’ name. Amen.
You are not alone in this fight. Lean on the Lord, and lean on your brothers and sisters in Christ. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory. Keep pressing into Him, and He will lead you out of this valley and into the green pastures He has prepared for you. "The Lord is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing" (Psalm 23:1). Trust in Him, and He will guide your steps.
