IT’S ALL RIGHT
One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. She said to her husband, "I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. Let's make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us." 2 Kings 4: 8-10
This Lord’s Day may you remember the story in the Bible that shows us a woman of faith in a dire crisis in her life. May you learn from her example to always go to the Lord for His divine intervention for any problems that you are facing today.
This woman was wealthy and had the gift of hospitality. Elisha wanted to bless her for all that she had done for him.
"What can be done for her?" Elisha asked. Gehazi said, "Well, she has no son and her husband is old." Then Elisha said, "Call her." So he called her, and she stood in the doorway. "About this time next year," Elisha said, "you will hold a son in your arms." "No, my lord," she objected. "Don't mislead your servant, O man of God!" But the woman became pregnant, and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her." 2 Kings 4:14-17
God showed her, her family and many others that she was being blessed by God by having a child later in life. May you learn and never doubt that God can do anything in His perfect timing. The boy grew and went out with his father into the fields, then tragedy struck.
"My head! My head!" he said to his father. His father told a servant, "Carry him to his mother." After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died. She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out. She called her husband and said, "Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return." "Why go to him today?" he asked. "It's not the New Moon or the Sabbath." "It's all right," she said." 2 Kings 4:18-23
Look at this woman's response of faith to her husband! She did not tell him any details, but she, by faith, laid her son on Elisha's bed believing that only he could do a miracle for her son who had died.
Is your marriage dead? I know that you may have a pastor or counselor who does not believe in the power of prayer that God can touch and change your spouse's hardened heart and mind. Your family may not believe that your marriage can be resurrected from the deadness of divorce or a non-covenant marriage. But God! He can resurrect hurting and dead marriages, as you have read our testimony and you can read other testimonies every Saturday.
"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
Let's watch this woman of faith. What did she do? She told no one about her child dying. She took the child into the room that she and her husband had made for the man of God and laid him on his bed. Then she told her husband she needed a servant and a donkey so she could get the man of God. She then said, "It's all right!" Wow! What a woman of faith, knowing her child had died. She had prayed and made a choice that she was not going to give up on her son. May I encourage you to never give up on your husband or wife, your one-flesh spouse, who has left your marriage and has a heart condition that only can be touched by God as you pray.
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6
You need faith in believing for marriage restoration. It is mandatory. Are you earnestly seeking the Lord daily for your marriage and other marriages to be resurrected from the dead? How many times have you read Hebrews Chapter 11? May I suggest you read it daily until you understand the utmost importance in having faith for any impossible situations.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, "Look! There's the Shunammite! Run to meet her and ask her, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?'" "Everything is all right," she said." 2 Kings 4:25-26
Look at her answer, "Everything is all right." She did not even tell Gehazi her problem. She kept believing and walking in faith. Oh, dear stander, I believe that often your words are destroying your faith. May you be challenged by the Shunammite woman to live, walk and talk in faith about your dead marriage. Believe and stand on the promises of God. Seek His face for His answers only!
When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she took hold of his feet. Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said, "Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me why." "Did I ask you for a son, my lord?" she said. "Didn't I tell you, 'Don't raise my hopes'?" 2 Kings 4:27-28
Then Elisha sent Gehazi with his own staff and told him to lay it on the boy's face. Gehazi followed his instructions, but went back and told Elisha that the boy did not wake up.
When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch. He went in, shut the door on the two of them and prayed to the LORD. Then he got on the bed and lay upon the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands. As he stretched himself out upon him, the boy's body grew warm. Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out upon him once more. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes. Elisha summoned Gehazi and said, "Call the Shunammite." And he did. When she came, he said, "Take your son." She came in, fell at his feet and bowed to the ground. Then she took her son and went out. 2 Kings 4:32-37
Will you become like this woman of faith? She believed in Elisha, the man of God to do a miracle for her dead son. Are you still praying for your spouse to come home with fervor and tenacity? Even Elisha had to pray for a period of time. Will you believe in the Lord God to do a miracle of marriage restoration for you and your beloved husband or wife? Never stop believing! Don't let time be a hindrance, but ask the Lord for His wisdom and knowledge. Stop speaking negative words of hopelessness, but instead speak words of faith, hope and trust in your Lord God forever! Remember, her words:"It's all right!"
Will You pray this Lord’s Day like a man or woman of faith? Will you pray for salvations of prodigals to be saved today around the world? What has the Lord promised you? Will you still believe in the Lord’s promises even if they look dead? Remember, her words: "It's all right!" The Shunammite put theLord first in her life. She believed in the power of the prophet. Never forget the power of the Lord God Almighty. Never forget your promises that the Lord has given you. "Lord You told me on…then continue to believe!" The Lord will do the rest.
