John 19:28-30

"Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.†A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When He had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.†With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit."

I am just thinking today about how profound these words of our Savior were. They could mean so many different things depending on what you consider "it" to mean. My life is finished...Sin's grasp is finished....man's condemnation is finished...My will is finished that the Father's will may be fulfilled...

Whatever you consider "it" to be, it produced the greatest gift ever bestowed on humankind. An absolutely sinless, honest, holy man crucified as common criminals, verbally and physically abused and tortured, mocked and betrayed because of OUR sin. I can hardly wrap my head around the kind of obedience to His Father, what kind of love for us would cause Jesus to suffer these things. My prayer this Easter is that no matter what kind of situation we find ourselves in, no matter our circumstance, that we remember what was done for us. Finances may be bad, jobs may not come, spouses may leave, health may deteriorate but there is always the hope that Christ gave this world. We cannot let circumstances or the schemes of the evil one distract us from the one truth of Easter - "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." We've been saved with purpose and intention by our Creator - He will not forsake us - ever.

Lift up your head - praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - YOU are a jewel in the crown of heaven. Believe.

Amen!

Matthew 5:1-11

1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

He said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Mark 15:38, 39

"The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how He died,he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!â€
